I'm about to upgrade my stock bottom end, street driven 87 GT with AFR 165cc heads, GT-40 intake, Holley adjustable fuel pressure regulator, 70mm throttle body, 75mm Pro-M MAF, 24# injectors, and a set of 1.7 roller rockers that i've had for a while. I was going to stick with the stock cam which is why i got the 1.7s off a friend for cheap, but now I've decided to go with another shaft. The 1.7s have kinda limited my cam choice with stock pistons and the 1.90/1.60 valves. I don't wanna spring the extra cash for 1.6s unless absolutely necessary. Here's what I'm thinking now:

E303
TFS Stage 1
AFM N-21

Right now I like the E-cam as it'll have .529 lift and 220/220 at .050 with 1.7s. I think this'll run good down low and have plenty up top also. Let me know what you think of these shafts, or suggest a better one if you know of one.

I think you mean top end? ... i would go with the TFS Stage 1
. I had an e-cam in my car, and ill prolly get it again with a set of thumpers and a cobra intake, but everyone will argue with that the letter cams suck..

No no no.... use a split duration cam, the trick flow stage 1 is very very very good, better than the E303. It has more lift and 221/225 @ .050 duration. More lift = more torque without changing the powerband.

Sorry, I worded it kinda funny. I mean that the car has a stock bottom end, not that I'm upgrading the bottom end. Anyway, anyone have any timeslips for a similar combination with the TFS Stage 1 cam?

E-303

Carefull with the E-303 cam and the 1.7 rockers. Anything over .500 lift with stock pistons and you have valve relief issues. The E-303 has .498 lift and correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the 1.7 rockers will increase lift to .510. I run heads with 1.90 valves and a Crane cam with the same numbers as the E-303, but was told by Ford Racing, Crane, and Edelbrock to use the 1.6 rockers to insure valve/piston clearance.

Not true. I have a stock '93 5.0 HO with a B303 cam and 1.72 roller rockers. That equals a lift of .516" and I have zero problems. I had the same combo in a '90 5.0 HO too. No problems their either.

Similar to the above poster, I run AFR 165s on a stock short block with a TFS stage 1 cam (.510 exh lift) with no problems. No timeslips as of yet, but I make 265rwhp / 299rwtq with stock cobra intake (i need to get lower tmoss'd - im hoping for 20+ rwhp gain from the portwork).
