hey all, my rear-end needs to be rebuilt and I was consider upgrading to 3.73 or 4.10. My engine is stock and i plan on keeping that way until I build a new car.
Its an all out daily driver.

my question is, has anyone had both 3.73's and 4.10's in a stockish d&d? i don't really care about gas mileage, but am wondering if somone had 3.73 went 4.10 and is regretting it??

I have 3.55 in right now

3.9 would be perfect, but i hear thats a noisy gear

i have not used both but i wish i had the 373's instead of the 410's primarily because i do mostly hiway driving. and first gear is just about useless. but on the other hand, she does pull hard in all gears. even on the hwy at 70, it takes no time get to 90+. but your top end will suffer.

I've got 3.73s in my 95, and my 91 that was the donor car for my 67 had 4.10s (that rearend is now in my 67). For a DD, I would strongly recommend the 3.73s. I kept the 4.10s in my 67 because it's not going to be a DD. 1st gear will be useless, and highway cruising is wound quite a bit higher. 3.73s are perfect, IMHO.

3.73s. even though with my combo 1st gear is pretty worthless with them. i think i'll be going with 3.55s whenever i tear into the rear.

my first stang was a 1996 gt. i got sucked into the "don't fear the gear" talk, so i got 4.10s. i regretted it, but 3rd pulled like a mofo. 1st and 2nd were way too short imo, and that outweighed the positive of the 3rd gear.

the 95 had 3.73s when i bought it (still stock DD type). much better imo

i now have 3.27s (stock) 2000 rpm at 70 mph , but it's not very stockish anymore.

for a stockish DD, i say 3.73s the best gear.

I always would say to go 373's over 355's
BUT
You already got 355's

Do you realize how SMALL of a jump you would be making

You won't realize much difference

If you go 1/4 of a turn ... It is barely noticeable
and
You are not even going that much

Just something for you to think about
