Another hobby: RC Flight

I've attached a few links of some video I took with a FlyCam attached to one of my RC planes. The plane in this is an F-16 that I fiberglassed, running an electric ducted fan jet.

My electric trainers had pretty short lives haha. I would like to get one of these WWII birds eventually though: Warbird and Military Scale Electric RC Aircraft from Hobby Lobby!

We used to do gliders (6'+ wingspans) I'd like to get a Corsair gas or Mustang gas, but I don't have time or space at the moment.

I might jump back into things with a helo, but they're a pain to fly.

I've got about 12 birds overall - 4 of which are 6ft plus wingspan nitro planes (A6 Zero, Macchi 205 Veltro, AT-6 Texan, F4 Corsair), and lots of electric jets and seaplanes. I love the hobby almost as much as I love the cars. Lots of assembly/disassembly required to fit the planes into my car though. I just got the camera, among other things, from my GF for xmas so I will have some more exciting videos of aerobatics up shortly, probably some crashes too.

Got a pic of the planes? How are they to land? I had a big 40cc gas plane when I was younger... Died on a landing (which was not an easy thing to do) because the front wheel (that my Dad installed) fell off!!!!

I'll take a picture of my "hangar" / workshop tonight. It is a fullsize bedroom loaded with fuselages and wings - and a closet of catastrophic failures.

Not bad to land at all. Most of my electric planes (the smaller planes/jets and the float planes) either belly land on the grass or land on pontoons/hull in the water. The gaser's aren't bad to land either. The gears are all retractable on the WW2 giants, and they have spring shock absorber struts so they're more forgiving than one would think. Land too hard though and they'll punch right through the wing.

The Hamster / dustmop is shown for scale - hamster about 10" long

thats cool, i accually just sold my BIG zero, it was an 80in wingspan with a o.s 1.60 2 stroke on it

That appears to be a CMP kit, is that right? My zero runs on a Magnum 90 4 Stroke and it's about 7lbs. Not nearly as big as that behemoth. My carrying capacity is limited by the mustang. I can fold down the rears but the wings on my large ones still come into the front seat area and end up past the e-brake handle. Gorgeous plane.

Nice, I love flying RC aircraft and real aircaft. I got the parkzone Vapor for X-mass. I also just ordered the Spektrum DX6i radio and also the Blade MXC helicopter. I have Parkzones Ttyphoon 3d and a few other planes. I'm into all the electric craft. I use to fly gas a long time ago but I’m done with gas for good. I love these electric planes. The F-27 Stryker will do 100+ mph with a few simple mods.

I like the ease of flying electric (toss it in the trunk, batteries in pocket, and go to the field). But the recharging is the biggest pain in the @ss for me. With the gas planes, I bring out a quart of nitro fuel and I could fly 6-8 hours straight, only stopping for refuel and to swap out receiver battery packs. Not to mention, those big warbirds in the pics above will get about 20-30 minutes of very spirited flying before the tank gets light. My 5 foot high wing nitro will fly for 45-50 minutes without a refuel. Hopefully in the future the battery technology will be able to compete with nitro flight durations. I love flying gas and electrics, they each have their own pro's and con's.
The Blade MCX is great fun for indoor flying. The Dx6 is a great transmitter as well. I own one of those as well as a Futaba 6EX. Both transmit on 2.4ghz. I have lost planes due to interference flying on 72mhz and will never fly anything but 2.4ghz ever again.

That anti-G hovercraft on the hobby lobby link looks bad ass... I might have to get one of those until I can get back into something that truly flies.

funny you bring up RC stuff, i personally dont have any but my friend just showed me a video of people doing RC drifting
