hey guys, i have been running quaker state High Horspower 5w-30 in my 2 stangs for the last 3 years, and have had great luck. i pulled the valve covers off to see if there was any gunk... you could eat off of the heads, they were super clean

well now they don't make quaker HiHorsepower anymore, so soon i'm going to need to change. any suggestions out there for what i should use? the cobra has 104K on her, daily ride, and the 88LX has 84K on her, a bit more modded, stricly for hunting down camaros and ricers. any ideas....and please add a price if possible. thanks

For regular conventional oil as long as you see the 'a.p.i' seal on it, its fine. I would use whatever is cheapest for 10w30 or 10w40. Or go 10w30 in the winter and 10w40 in the summer. Walmart oil is around $1/qt and I use that in my saturn but the stang gets mobil 1 synthetic and a mobil 1 filter.

Wal-Mart is the best price you will find on mobil 1, 5qts for $20, that is all you need. 4$ qt is not bad for a oil like that.

Yeah thats what I did, bought the 5qt jug from walmart for $19.97, but it went up like $.20 since. I might give royal purple a try for my next oil change. Cost isn't an issue when it comes to good synthetic oil for my new engine. The beater gets cheap conventional oil which is just as good as the expensive $2+ qt conventional oils.

yeah, my beaters are used to the walmart 98cent special stuff, but i don't want to skimp on the good stuff for either the stangs. neither one has ever "had" to have a valvecover off, and i'd like to keep it like that. how much is that royal purple , amsoil, and redline stuff?

Ha Ha. I thought I was the only one using Mobile 1 synthetic in my lawn mower. I suggest Mobile 1 synthetic motor oil. About $5 a quart - cheaper at Sams Club. Also use Mobile 1 for trans, rear too. Just One Man's Opinion. Peace
