well, i decided to throw down the $560 for a tweecer rt. i've had it installed on the car for a little over 24 hours but haven't had too much time to mess with it. i've done some simple stuff i had ready before i got it like the maf transfer, idle, egr/thermactor removal, and a couple other things, but i haven't messed w/any spark or fuel tables yet. i started w/the j4j1 settings. i'm pretty happy already since my idle problems and hanging rpms have disappeared.

anyway, does anyone w/a similar setup feel like sharing their files? i'd like to see how people are adjusting their fuel and spark tables so i can get a better idea of how/what i should be adjusting. send me a pm w/them please!

second, what can i learn from datalogging w/o a wideband o2 sensor?

do any of you guys use a wideband? which did you go with? i'm considering the lm1 ( http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/lm1.php ) it's $350, including "LM1, Bosch 5-wire Wideband 02 Sensor, 10ft. Sensor Cable, 10ft. Power Cable (Cig), 6ft. Serial Cable for PC Connection, Bung/Plug Kit, Software CD, and Quick Start Guide." would i need anything else to make it work with the tweecer?

i realize some of this might belong on the tweecer board, but i thought i might get a better response here since we all drive the same cars (and my post count is zero there).

thanks!

I tried posting on the twEECer boards, it's worthless. I've found that starting with the J4J1 tune is the best way to go. Definitely put in your correct MAF transfer first. Other than that, I'm basically running the J4J1 tune with the fuel and spark tables from a T4M0 computer. I compared the differences between the J4J1 and the T4M0 and found that the T4M0 has more aggressive spark/fuel curves. I also put in my larger engine displacement, fuel injector size, and adjusted the fan settings. I can't help you yet on the o2 sensor but I'm really interested in getting one myself. If you do decide to install a wideband o2 let me know how it goes.

My car would like to adopt a poor mistreated Tweecer - it promises to Love and Care for one for the duration of it's life. References are available if needed. Email gcomfx@100mphclub.com

Hey Greg

Welcome to the would of self tuning.

Lots of files on the tuner sites for you to look at. I think Jake started with the same J4J1 that I started with that had been tweeced a bit by Mike Glover the founder of Tweecer and Daren Woodall who created Log Analyst. It is a good file to start with and it is on the Tweecer sites but if you can't find it I can send it to you.

A word of caution is that usually the T4M0, J4J1 files are kinda lean cause Ford set them up that way for good fuel milage & emissions. When you start to turn up the spark just know that you may be a bit lean.

second, what can i learn from datalogging w/o a wideband o2 sensor?

Datalogging is great for checking your progress against a baseline datalog. You can dump the data into Excell or a program like Log Analyst and you can see the trends of what is going on.

One example to give you an idea:
You can see air flow and if you datalog more air flow than your baseline, well, then more power is being made, don't ya think?

do any of you guys use a wideband? which did you go with? i'm considering the lm1 ( http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/lm1.php ) it's $350, including "LM1, Bosch 5-wire Wideband 02 Sensor, 10ft. I'm using a FJO wb which is about two years old and wb's like you have listed above are good. You can find lots of wb info on the Tweecer sites. I run all emissions equipment on my car so I put a toggle on the egr output for easy switching between egr or wb output to the datalog.

i realize some of this might belong on the tweecer board, but i thought i might get a better response here since we all drive the same cars (and my post count is zero there).

thanks!

Be careful when you research the sites for knowledge cause the fox pcm's (A9L & such) are rpm based and our pcm's are load based. Some of the fox stuff is ok to apply to our cars and some of it is not.

Almost forgot to say that all of the pcm's strategy is based on stock spark at the dizzy & stock fuel pressure. If you monkey with the fp after you have tweeced your af ratio then your tweecs are now obsolete.

How is the car running btw?

Later

thanks for the great reply grady! very helpful. my car doesn't feel quite as strong as i think it should, but i'm guessing it's not far off. what you said about datalogging makes perfect sense, i got it now. i found daren's site; it was and will be quite helpful. i've got a lot of learning to do still...

i'm going out for the night, so i'll give you an update after i do some tweecing tomorrow.

thanks again grady!
