Ok, so heres the deal, motor is getting ready to go back in the car. All suggestions are appreciated. Heres the take on the motor right now and then you can help me decide which heads might be best for my proposed intentions.

Stock 302 block, stock pistons, TFS Stage 1 cam, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, 70mm TB, 75mm MAF, 24 lb injectors, unknown brand unequal length shorties that were already on the car.

This is what I've got gathered up so far. Goal is 300 rwhp N/A. Future plans will most likely include a bottle, LTs, and will probly pull the motor again for some new pistons and open the block up a lil to 306. Do not plan on stroking and do not plan on putting a blower on it.

All suggestions and help will be much appreciated. I've been on here reading for the past month trying to figure out the best combo for what I want to run and have finally gotten to this point. Thanks in advance.

AFR 185's would be too much, I bet you would make the most power with a set of 165's. That would be my choice.

When do AFR 185's become justifiable? I'm thinking about doing a cam/intake/head swap on a stock block 302. I was thinking about an FRPP cam, Holley or Trickflow intake, and either AFR 185's or 165's. My only mods now are typical exhaust, pulleys, TB, gears. I will add an S-trim after the headswap. Should I get AFR 185's in anticipation of a blower?

If your going with an S-Trim go with the AFR 185's...get a custom cam...you don't need to go with an "outdated" Alphabet cam...how long will you have the heads on before the S-trim...if you go ahead and buy the "bigger" intake your not going to have the torque there as much...but you will have tons of power as the rpms climb...

To the original thread maker...get the AFR 165's...
