not to be a jerk but am I the only one that is disapointed with that time? I was hugely disapointed in myself for running a 14.2 with stock tires while my friends srt-4 stage 2 was running 13.2... I was thinking if I atleast got the moongose kit I could beat him but now im not so sure

It's all about traction. One member here was able to consistantly run low 12's with only 275rwhp. (Mustang92 - Bill).

Granted he used slicks to do this but if you set your car up like he did, learned to drive real well, and had good D/R's you could run surprisingly low ET's.

Built rear, axles, D/R's, lighten the car as much as possible, lightweight front end setup, shocks/struts set up for max. weight transfer for drag racing.

Often in our quest for speed, we go right to the horsepower gods while not paying homage to the gods of traction.

blocking ring destroyed. it will hurt the actual gear if you wait. actual synchro ruined is rare. the brass blocking ring does the job of slowing /synchronising gearset speeds. when they fail the gearset speed doesnt match countershaft gear speeds.

Bill, are you saying if I try and use 3rd gear I will cause more damage? What If I just shift around it for awhile... will that work?

LMAO a stock srt4 wont be running low 13s. Plus he is new to the track with a blower, having 400+hp at the engine will blow the tires off with no effort.

Stage 2 SRT-4 isn't really stock but can't handle a blown Stang for sure. I can beat stock SRT-4's and Charger R/T's/Daytonas in my car.

You should be OK but I'd look into getting it fixed soon. Best guess is that it will be in the neighborhood of 450-500 (high-side) to fix.

You would smoke the crap out of your friends NEON with a Mongoose kit. My time was made with three gears, and it bogged going into 4rth instead of 3rd.

BUT this thread wasnt about my time, it was more about my broken tranny... Should I look at getting it fixed, or a Promotion 3650?

I would hate to pay 500 buck to fix it, just to have it break again..

I was able to find a used kit, so I paid about 3675 for my mongoose kit, which included all the gauges, intercooler, smaller pulley, ETC. That price also includes the cobra tank and pumps...
