Any downsides to smaller overall tire height from stock?

I'm planning on ordering my wheels today. I decided on 19's over 20's since the selection of tires for 20's really seems to suck. I want to run at least 255's in the front and 295's in the rear, and if I want to do that on a set of 20's, it means losing about an inch to inch and a half of overall tire height. Is that a bad thing or does it make the car look funny? How hard is it to calibrate the speedo?

I need some opinions ASAP! Thanks!

Going to 20s AND losing 1.5" of diameter will make it ride horribly. Stick with 19s, 295/35-19 in the rear and 255/40-19 in front for best results, IMO.

Different tire diameter will mean a different effective rear end gear ratio but you can easily calc it out by knowing the percent difference in tire diameters. Then use a programmer to adjust the speedo and you are golden.

personal opinion... don't get anything polished...
You've got chrome and powdercoat choices. They are much easier to maintain. Polished aluminum turns white every few weeks. To get the shine back takes a little effort. Chrome and powdercoat shine up easy.

Or, you could always have your polished aluminum clear powder coated for that ever lasting polished look
