Huh? I don't know, haven't heard anything about it. You'd think it would be in the news pretty big.

BTW, can you make your avatar a little bigger or something? I can't quite make out what Kent is saying, and it's driving me nuts...

It passed the House and Senate and went to the Governer April 20th. I'm not sure if she has signed it into law yet. If so it wouldn't take effect until 2009 model year.

Thanks,

It was signed and will take effect in 2009. It will only apply to new cars starting in 09. At this point.

That brief description clearly addressed new cars and not older cars. Furthermore, it stated that the emissions tests would be gradually withdrawn!. We need more info!

I've actually been hoping for the latter part of this since they implemented OBDII emissions testing via computer. As more and more cars become exempt it doesn't make sense to keep all this testing around for the 'old' cars like ours. I'm against stricter regulations, but if they want to usher out emissions testing for my vehicles I'm all for it.

Heck, they can do all the computer testing they want, with a chip/flash we can make 'em pass with cats, without cats, etc.

I would rather pass a OBD2 test than a dyno test any day

I knew the WA government wanted to end the emissions testing as it exists now, but the vested interests were able to lobby effectively to keep it going. With this new law, they are taking care of several issues. This could be good for us... We need the whole picture though. I not going to celebrate yet -but I am enouraged!
