I just read the post on top speed and did not see anyone running 3:27's. I had assumed I had 3:08's or close when I switched to 3:73's. But by damn if they were 27/s................

i'm going to 3.27s when the money to pay the mechanic to install them is available. i have 3.73s now

the 3.27s i have now came out of my 1996 gt when i had it. they were stock in that. it was a manual.

i thought 3.27s were stock for our cars too, but that is hearsay.

Too bad you don't live near by, I'd trade you the entire rear end assembly. I want 3.73's!

pm me if you are interested in buying them ... just the ring and pinion. that would help cover the cost of getting the 3.27s installed.

3.27s became standard in 96 because of the lack of low end torque of the 4.6.

my car had 3:08's. People say that the number is on the gear tag on the diff cover.

My 95 GT came with 3.27s... it was a woman's car. Her husband went driving with her and he noticed that she either left in 4th the whole time or had to keep downshifting on the highway because the 2.73s were so gutless. So he brought the car back to Ford and had them install a set of 3.27s for her.

I thought they were MINT for highway cruising in a 5 speed, just enough to pass and to avoid the "hollow" feeling of going up a hill and hitting the pedal and not feeling anything.

I'm running 4.10s right now. Saving the 3.27s for a rainy day. And by rainy day I mean when I buy a Kenne Bell after I take my car into the 11s.

my 94GT has 3.27s in it. It was an original 5spd car. The service tag on the back said 3.27's. So Im guessing its stock. Because I opened it up to put 4.56's in. didn't look like its been messed with at all.

I had thought that 3.27's were only a factory option for manual trannies, in '87.

What does the door code say? I wonder if someone didnt swap the whole axle.....

Like JT said, look at the door sticker. There should be a box at the bottom that says AX. In it is a letter.

Here's the axle code definitions:

M=2.73
E=3.27
Z=3.08

Those are for what came stock. They are useless if the gears have been changed.
