Any such thing as cool turbines?

I know this is not really a tech question. But,,, right now I have some 10 holes on my 92 drop. I am not really going to buy any chromes till next summer or so. But I have a set of turbines in my garage and I may wrap some new rubber on those and use them for the winter. My question is or request should I say, have you guys seen any cars that actually look cool with them on? Like powder coated or anything? I may try to keep my eye out for some ponys or somthing but I have these turbines and hate these 10 holes so... I guess you can say I am asking if anyone has any pics of some cool cars with turbines on?

If you leave the centercaps off them the turbines look 10000 times better. I couldn't wait to get rid of mine before, but after doing that I think they actually look sort of cool, or at least tolerable.

I'm going to put a fresh coat of paint on mine, and then polish the outer lip... but I'm not sure how to do that. Sanding seems to just scuff it up. Anyone know how I can get it smoothed down nice and ready for compounding?

One thing I wouldn't do is paint them black. Saw it done before and it was kinda ugly IMO.

.

I would like to know how to polish them as well. Also what kind of paint do you use for the turbines?

Anyone up to photoshoping some turbines with paint between the spokes and polished tops to the spokes? What would look best, black or paint that matches to car body?

lol......is that your way of telling me there is no such thing as cool turbines on a car. Just want to throw some semi-cool beaters on the car for the winter. I know ponies are the best option, but I cant find some white ones for a good price.

When I bought my 88 they had some on there and I had some ASA's so took off the 10 holes and put them in the garage. Now my 92 has them on there so if I buy new wheels I'll have 2 sets. Let me search around and see if I can find some ponies for cheap, because when I sell these I need to have something else to put on. I'll box em and send em if you are serious and cover shipping.

Not sure what a good price for some 10 holes are. Dont want to sell em too high. The tires are liike 75% also. Lemme check around.

**edit, wait I can sell the set in the garage....*duh*....let me get back to you on a price.

Yes, turbines were the coolest wheels ever on my 79 Capri for 10 years.

I just cleaned them. They were too detailed for me to want to paint or polish.

225-60-15's by Michelin, 50000 miles a set for 2 sets.

I love my Turbines , but I will have to pull the center caps off and see what they look like that way. I have a friend who painted his center caps black and that looks pretty decent. I like J. Richker's idea of painting the inside between the spokes black. Kinda like the American Racing Vector wheels on the General Lee (yes I am a Hick)

Oh wait I get it now......that polish the tops sounds sweet. Since my car is white, white in between may look sweet. Maybe polishing the lip too. hhhmmmmmmmm......I wonder.

I would still like to know the process for polishing turbines. ANd maybe a paint recommendation. I would like a white powder style coat.

If you werent in the Yay area of California, I'd trade you my ponies for ur 10 holes. The ten holes are getting very rare. Good luck with your decision
I got 3 sets of ten holes. And every junk yard around here has em on every mustang. I tried to give mine away and nobody wanted them. The center caps, however, are getting expensive. I sold all 3 sets of center caps on ebay for like $45 a set.

Aaarrgh, I can picture it my head and it sounds cool. Just need a pic to push me over the edge. I dont want to roll chrome in the winter, but then again I dont want my stang lookin crap for the winter either.....I wish I could find some cheap white ponies too.....:(
