Well I just got my immunizations today for college, Tetnis and Hepatitis 1 (sp on both). To tell you all the truth, I barely felt a thing. I was all worried yesterday for nothing. I have to come back for Hepatitis 2 next month and 3 in December.

Shots are overrated, I'm so happy I overcame my fear.

They aren't that bad. The only one I hate is when you have to give blood...those big ass needles that look like a McDonalds straws sucking blood out of you.

Even if you are afraid of needles, tattoos have their advantages and disadvatages.

Disadvantage - needles suck, and tattoo needles are the worst (hurting-wise).
Advantage - you don't have to give blood - no big scary McDonalds straw sucking what feels like your organs out of your arm.

Yeah man.

Oh and I forgot to mention, I had to give blood to check my cholesterol. It sucked. Hurt more than both shots combined.

I had to get a tetanus shot a month ago when I stuck a keyhole saw through my hand. I didnt feel a thing.

Then I had to get a numbing shot in the back of the mouth at the dentist, that one stung a little, but not to bad.

The blood giving needles and needles used to knock you out for surgery are the worse!!! When I had my wisdom teeth out my mouth didnt hurt at all, but my arm was sore for 2 weeks.

LOL! Its funny you guys are talking about this as this is what I talk about everyday! I sell needles, syringes, vaccines, machine to test your cholesterol and just about everything else used in a doctors office.

I can't stress to you all enough how important getting your hepatitis B vaccine is. Its WAY more common than you'd ever guess and its not all that hard to get. Make sure you go back and get all the shots for it.

Next time you get a shot tell them you want nothing less than a 25 gauge needle, a 28 or 30 would be prefered! The smaller the number the bigger the bore on the needle.


Sort of off the wall, but you guys that got your tetanus shot, did the nurse/doctor draw it from a vial or was it in its own pre-filled syringe? There has been a recent change and all tetanus is being administered through pre-filled syringes now, I'm just curious if this change has hit all over the country yet or if there is still some of the old stuff out there.

Same here.

The guy that did my hep shot used a 30 gauge needle. I seriously could not feel it.

Well when talking about giving blood is interesting. They used to come around to all of us at school and ask us to donate blood. I was a lucky one I can't give blood (heart problem I found out about when I was 17 or so that has no name or cure). Its nothing to awful serious, just causes me to pass out when satnding up to quickly and to have low blood pressure, but thanks to high intake of sodium and gatorade it rarely ever bothers me anymore. Its great though not having to give blood.

I gave blood last year. Probably one of the worste experiences in my life. The noobie nurse had to find my vain 4 TIMES. "oops, one more time." "oops i missed it, sorry" "oops"

I know I got out of giving blood for the past two years because I've gotten a tattoo within the past 18 months.

When my brother became diabetic, the whole family had to learn how to use needles in case he wasn't able to.

While we were in the hospital, my mom needed to learn. So she use me as the guinea pig and readied the saline solution in the needle, and proceeded to poke me. Well, when the needle went it, she freaked out, and pulled it out!!!! Didn't even inject the damn solution. SOOO.......she had to do it again!!!!

I still give her crap for that...

But they don't even bother me much anymore. Just get used to seeing them every day, and know they aren't that bad.

I have no prob w/ reg needles but those ones they use to take blood are just not right
