Hey guys...

Getting ready to get my car inspected and then drop the tranny for a clutch swap...so when I do that I will be taking the catted Bassani X-pipe off and putting the good old MAC ProChamber H-pipe back on.

Problem is it's been in my garage for a year or so and it looks pretty rough at this point. I'm not sure but I think MAC puts "HTS Coating" on their stuff but it hasn't held up as I can tell. I had to run the wire wheel over a spot that needs a weld (a small crack has developed in a bend) and it's down to bare metal real easily. Even 600-grit sand paper is taking it to the metal.

Does anybody know if you can scuff this thing up and paint it? Or will it just look good for a week and go back to looking crappy? What paint or primers should I use?

Any experienced thoughts are appreciated...

Believe it or not that's an idea I was already thinking about.

I don't really care about bling-bling or someone underneath my car admiring my shiny H-pipe, but rather just to have it not look so rough.

Thanks!

Anymore?

ive heard some people on here talk about using cereamic high temp paint to paint their headers, i dont see why that wouldnt work on your x-pipe. only thing is is that the paint needs to be baked on so paint it a few hours before you install it and let it dry then drive the car for a while letting the paint bake onto the pipe.
