Anyone else get this?

I was looking under my car today to check up on a slow drip from my tailshaft/output shaft/yoke on my trans. im going to be replacing the trans fluid shortly and wanted to see if i should get a new seal. well, while im looking at that, which looked the same as it did before(about 9 months ago), with a drop of oil hanging from the output shaft area, i looked forward a little and on the bottom of the bell housing and on a little of the oil pan is an oily residue. its not the oil pan leaking because it looks like it drips forward, from the rear main seal area/trans towards the oil pan.

any ideas? is it the trans leaking at both ends?
is it a rear main seal on the motor, and something separate on the trans?
is the dripping from the back of the trans normal? its not a lot, only very little. im gonna check the trans fluid fill hole and see if its at the level it should be. on the front of the trans however, the whole bottom of the bell housing is covered with a thin layer of residue, as is the rear under portion of the oil pan.

its not water cause i havent driven through any and it hasnt rained for several days

any help is appreciated

thanks!:hail2:

def replace the rear main seal on the tranny. then give it a wipedown and another week and see if youre still leaking.

ps, make sure you re-install the DS correctly. i didnt the first time i did a rear main seal. unhappy customer=teh lose

:stupid:

my rear output seal has a slight leak to it as well. i first noticed it when i was changing the oil and was wondering WTF was all over my xpipe. tranny fluid level is ok, so im not too worried about it.
