anyone have bbk valve covers?

im going to do a head swap and was wondering if swaping over to bbk valve covers is a good idea. we dont have many choices, and i kind of like how they look.

question is are they quality, i dont want any problems. add also mentions they are light, weight is this true? much lighter then stock if any?

as far as bolt pattern, i guess it depends on which engine is in my 02 gt huh, i will have to investagate which valve covers to get.

I just put a set on my 2000 GT a few weeks ago. I haven't had any problems with them yet. It seemed to be a much tighter working area than when I took off the stock covers. Should be easier if you are going to pull the motor. The only thing I didn't really care for was that the bolts they use require an allen head socket to tighten them down. That makes it alot more prone to stripping out the head of the bolt if you aren't careful. But like I said before, if you are pulling the motor it will be a piece of cake to put them on correctly. As far a the weight goes, the are light due to being aluminum, but they aren't lighter than the stock ones because those are plastic. BBK might be comparing theirs to other aftermarket covers. I think the only other company that makes covers for the newer stangs is team breed. There's are really good too.

i have a set on my car and i get alot of compliments about them. i put them on myself and if the engine is still in the car it can be a tedious task. the bolt pattern all depends upon the block you have. either you have a windsor block or a romeo block. their is a difference in the two so be careful when you order them. the pcv is closer to the firewall than factory covers so you will need to extend your iac hose. use fuel line. it wont collapse from the heat and fumes. you do have to use an allen wrench that comes with the kit. what i did was cut the allen wrench down to 1 inch and then used a 1/4 inch socket to fit the allen wrench in and used a socket and ratchet. if the engine is in the car i recommend removing the master cylinder because the bbk covers are about 1/4 inch taller than factory. as for the weight dfference they weigh about the same but they cost a little less than factory covers and look so much better. hope this helps you out

they seem like alot of work, i dont like fabricating to fit things, i tend to like to buy stuff that bolts right up.......bu am still considering them.

Correct there is not much weight diff, but BBKs are cheaper than stock covers, Huh??? And to each his own but I don't like the big BBK letters on them, here's an option. Paint the factory covers yourself or get a set powder coated from Modular Powerhouse. Modular Powerhouse Link

this is a picture I took at a car show (NOT MY CAR!) it looks kinda messy and it's also badged as a cobra, when the heads say SOHC.. I thought that was funny. Those are the BBK covers though

I didn't think you could powdercoat plastic because there needs to be a static charge for the materials to be pulled in by.

Yes the Yellow ones I painted myself, the red were my inspiration. Can't afford to spend that kinda $$ on VCs. And yes as said before if installing the BBKs on an installed engine you will need to pull the brake master cylinder for clearance.

you can't powdercoat plastic...I went to a place with the stock ones and they laughed...said they would melt...I got the bbk ones, which came silver powdercoated...had that stripped off..and then powdercoated the blue color...and yes, they are aluminum...

yeah i was going to say, you can't powder coat plastic. They must have a high temp paint or something. I'd like to have mine silver w/o the weight and the BBK.
