unfortunatly for me im going to have to ship my car back home.. I was just wondering if anyone on here has shipped a car? if so, who was it through and if you dont mind, how much did it cost?

Ive been through about 10 companies so far and got qoutes from $360-800.. kinda sketched out on the $360 shipping company but maybe theyre actually a good company :shrug:

any suggestions on who to go through would be great.. normally id tow it but the only towing vehicle i have has no brakes so thats waaay out of the question and renting a truck + trailor and towing it 700 miles was more than getting it shipped so shipping the car is the route im taking...

DAS auto shippers. I have used them 3 times in the past year and a half. They were a little on the higer side of quotes but they had the best vibe coming from them. All 3 times everything has went quick and smooth. The first time I shipped my car out of charleston WV.

dont go cheap is what i have to say, i went cheap one time shipping a car from california and it took forever to get here because the guys truck broke down and what not. go with a reputable company if you value your car.

sweet im gonna look them up then.. you live in charleston or is that just where the car was? mines getting shipped from beckley wv, back home to daytona

yeah thats kind of what im afraid of...even though i got a $620 quote and that included 1-7 day wait of car pick up and 7-21 days wait till delivery.. i definatly dont want to wait 21 days for my car to get home...no more than a weeks wait is what i want

I lived in VA at the time and that was the depot they shipped out of. I had it shipped to TX. Then I shipped it back to TN when I sold it. The third time I had them pick up my 02 from my home in VA and ship it here to TX. I would do door to door for the extra few bucks. Its well worth it.

well u can tow it down for me if you want lol...id pay the gas...but the car wont start...had a big problem with it right before winter, posted a thread in tech about it, tried all options/suggestions given to me and it still wont turn over...otherwise my happy arse would be driving around daytona in it right as we speak lol

Look , which ever transportation business you go through, im telling you now, it is all the same, i dont care what anyone else says, i know this , cause my brother and i own a small chain of trucks out of So Cal hauling produce to the east coast,

long story short, whoever you call, they're going to broker out the load to some owner operator to haul your car down. At this point, you would rather want an owner operator because this will be his truck, and his trailor ( you will know if its an owner operator because the company you call, will have another name on the truck itself, but he's doing business as "_____" whoever), if you get a company driver, im telling you now....he will not give two chits what happens. Best thing you can do, is when you see the driver, just go up. say whats up, and be cool with him. BTW, not all truck drivers are *******s (speaking)

I've shipped from CT to CA twice, no problems. I cant find my invoice but I remember paying around $800. It took about 1 week for them to bring it out here. Just make sure you go with a good company. Do your research online& look for reviews.

thanks for the info maz...nah didnt think you were being negative so thanks again...eh not too bad just been kinda busy moving and havnt been around the forum a bit..i lurk here and there but since stangnet mobile got all screwy i havnt been able to check stuff or post lol

oh and yeah, i pulled the starter..nothing wrong with it...put a new battery in the car, replaced starter, got a new alt, turned key, same noise...

can a vaccuum leak cause the car not to start cause my plenum started to have a leake after i swapped intakes cause one of the brass fittings in the intake popped out and i couldnt correct it good enough to get the screw all the way back in.. and i also know for sure, the motor is not seized..

haha on a lighter note, i just got a voicemail from a trucking company and the guy goes " erick, this is bobby from ----Trucking, oh wait, uhhhhhhh this is not erick.....click." yep, wont be putting my car in their hands lol

I hate to be negative but I've heard horror stories about all of them. Everthing from damage to excessive time from sitting on lots waiting for pick up. I recently had a decision to make, I needed to get two of my vehicles from chicago to cali (my vette and stang, both are like my children). I was looking at $1700 per car in a fully enclosed car hauler. Company specialized in exotics and had a A+ rep, but I just couldn't do it. Though you may not be able to, I bought a fully enclosed trailer and got them out myself. Maybe you can rent a cargo van and a car trailer from uhaul and do it yourself. No one will care for your car like you will. If you treasure your car as much as I do I'd think about that before you hand your keys over to someone else :nice:
