Anyone know the legal requirements with NO2 in your car?

I do believe it IS legal to have nitrous installed on a motor home/RV.

i know from first hand experience getting pulled over with a bottle in the car is not good ...try this one

operating a vehicle with power booster
5 points and a 350$ dollar fine .

the cop that pulled me over almost **** his pants and gave me this big lecture about how if someone ran into me the bottle could explode and i could kill the other drivers and blah blah.

so i said officed what should i do to get to the track and what not and he said just put the bottle in the back seat disconnected ...........

anywho i was at a test and tune the night before and had to drive the stang into work on that monday i didnt disconnect any of the bottle thinking oh ill be ok just this one time .

i remember being at a car show/burnout contest in downtown joliet. well a few of the cops were checking out my car, i showed em the flames and popped my hood and stuff. well i asked em about N20 on the street and i cant remember what exactly they said, but to them it wasnt a big deal. i showed em the bottle and everything too. might have been because they were car guys tho, if an a-hole cop sees it i really dont know what would happen.

I live in BFE so no cops around here care, my cousin is a county mounty and he said it is legal here. The cops around here dont get paid **** so they dont really care anyways. I know it is about safety and stuff, but the bottle is normally is in the back of the car. The back of the car also contains a gas tank that holds 15 gallons of fuel which in the event of a wreck could explode just as easy, just a thought.....

N2O isn't flammable....you can hold a torch up to the valve and crack the valve.....

No it's not by itself but if you increase the pressure beyond tank limits by overheating it it will escape from the tank or burst the tank. If it escapes from the tank in the proximity of gas you have a serious fire on your hands. If it bursts in the proximity of gas you have a serious fire and a large fireball. Firefighters don't like it when cars blow up in their faces.

I believe tx rulse are you can have it in the car but it has to be turned off. Have no idea how remote bottle openers affect the situation though

That can be prevented with a blow-down tube,and poperly operating burst plate.

Oh,and normal nitrous pressure is about 900-1000psi....the burst plate is rated at 3000psi-the bottle rating is much higher than that.
