Anyone paint the plastic piece (air dam) where your whindshield wipers are?

I am going to paint the cowl, mirrors, and trim that goes around the doors and the back as well. I tried a few test colors, and Semi-Flat black seemed to look best. The flat black looked to plain, and glossy black stood out too much, and it's a way darker black then the rest of the car.

I am also going to try to wetsand a few sections on the car as well. I will post some before/after pictures when I do it. Hopefully by friday, if not, then saturday.

I got a three day weekend, so I might as well use it.

I started with 1000 grit sandpaper, and sanded the mirrors down until the paint turned a foggy black. Then spraying in light coats, I used grey primer & put 2 coats on. Then I did the same with the semi-flat black (2 coats as well).

Pretty easy.

don't mean to hijack, but how would red mirrors look on a red car with black top. i thought maybe painting the mirrors red would be too much red. should i just paint them gloss black so they can "fit in" with the tint and top??

better red, more flow, shiny black would stick out too much. check out oink's (oinkaodeoink) car, or vib's - or anybody else w/ a red car (like Low-5.0 up top)

What are your opinions? Im also thinking if I paint the airdam as well as the mirrors it might be too much and look weird.

I vote for painting it black, and painting the mirrors body color. Here is my cowl project. Pictures aren't great, but I assure you it looks nice.

I painted mine red.. Seemed to make the front end look longer.
