Anyone running tailpipes with a 275 or larger tire?

i have 18x9 wheels in the back, no quadshocks, 24mm offset, 5.95" backspacing. im running a 275 nitto tire which ive heard is actually smaller then the average 275.

i have very little space as it is, i bought a few sets of tailpipes before. (mac, flowmaster, and one other brand). none of them would fit, im wondering if anyone with a GT and a similar setup has gotten tailpipes to fit. the tailpipes wouldnt fit WITH 255 tires.

i have a cobra bumper and want to run tailpipes, but never have been able. i may try asking an exhaust shop to custom make some, but figured before i take it in i would ask.

pics or how you got them to work would be helpful. thanks.

maybe you could have the exhaust shop bend them as close to the gas tank as possible. My GT has the stickers on the pipes still from where they were replaced, so I know they aren't stock. I'm now running 275/50/15 BFG's and haven't had any rubbing on the exhaust as far as I know. I don't have much clearance, but I have maybe 1/4 an inch or so. I don't have spacers on either.

are you using custom tailpipes? my car was really tight with the tailpipes i tried and a smaller tire.

i looked up there one day when i had the car on stands, i think if i cut that folded down lip off the front side of the tank, maybe some tailpipes would fit. i remembered to ask the muffler shop about it when they were welding on my new mufflers.

they said it would be impossible basically but they are halfassed. so im not taking their input too heavily.

88SC do you have any pics of your ride with the 18s on it? Thing must look nice. And a reputable muffler shop should be able to find a way of getting them to fit even if it is custom bending some tubes for you.

How much gap is there between the outer fender lip and the tire? I would consider running a smaller wheel spacer (if you have wheel studs, or will) to move the wheel out a bit. I have 18x9's with the same offset, and a 245 series tire, and actually had to work a little to get the LX tailpipes to fit. As it is, the exhaust hits the axle going over bumps, so I'm working on spacing the wheels out so I can redo the tails. Hope you can resolve the problem.

But seriously, would it be worth trying to move hanger locations on some '94-'95 exhausts or would they hit the rear bumper cover?

I'm running 275/35/18 on some 18x9" Saleen Wheels. My car is a LX Coupe though. There is very little space between my tailpipe and the tire though.

Very little space on mine too, pics are in my sig. It's close, but works.
Bassani exhausts work with it, because you can twist the exhaust pipes down and clamp them in the perfect position. (i still have flowmaster, but i know for a fact bassani catbacks work).

I have 275s. Came with the car. When I put on my new full exhaust I noticed that these tires had to go. There is about an inch of free space. What is a 275 in inches?

Ok, 275 is really close to 10.5. I'm going with 255 next because that's the closest to a 10inch tire.
