Just trying to finish my research here before going ahead with the swap.

AOD with lockup converter or non-lockup converter.
That is the question. Those of you who have done this swap, does the car lug when going into third gear on lock-up?
If you did go non-locking, why? I can't see why you wouldn't want it.
Thanks,
Andrew
68 conv with 302 (for now) and 3.55 gears

It was going to be a stock unit..BUT thanks to Dodgestang I went to the Clickclick racing forum and all I have to say is WOW!, what a wealth of information. Probably will go with one of Dan's builds. Just have to see how hard this AOD swap might be to do on my own.

You definitely want lock-up for a street driven car.

My Performance Automatic came with a non lock up 22-2400 stall. I have no problems using it for 100% street duty.

You get approximately 7 percent slip with a non-locked converter. That causes heat, shorter life, and reduced gas mileage.
