AOD just took a crap. Which tranny to get?

You can use the B&M Pro stick, Hurst 1/4 stick or the B&M hammer shifter.

I say if you got the funds buy one. Might save a few dollars haveing it built but, will the shop that built it warranty it??

But if you know of a good shop get the overhaul kit from Lentech and have it built. Thats what couple of my buddies did. Both of them have their AOD's behind blown 347's. And one has the the full manual VB with brake, in a 93 vert. He ran 10.50's with a few weeks ago..

Either way you can't go wrong, buying one complete or getting it built as long as the shop(or person) building it is reliable...

dont forget to check the clip on the cable in the throttle body that dtt92lx mentioned i think some people even called it a kick down cable but not sure if that is right. had 3 mech. look over the tranny and car no one saw the broken clip untill after i personally learned how to remove my own aod trans. by myself. then some one owed me money and offered a trans out of his t-bird and come to find out it had issues.so the moral to the story is do not make any changes untill you pop the hood and see for yourself/ or you can be like me and take a perfectly good trans. out for nothing not fun!

They should, or I wouldn't trust them to do the work.

I got a 1 year warranty on my AODE, with the specific knowledge that my intent was to use it for drag racing.

You left out the Pro Ratchet, which would also be my first choice. And as a mater of prefference, nothing says you have to mount the shifter a certain way. I would mount it backwards So that the shifter operation would be

with a button to control OD. If you rebuilt an AOD with a Baumann or Performance Automatic Manual valvebody they have teh OD switch operated.

I like to pull back for upshift and push forward to downshift.
