AOD recommendation

I have a 93 "White pony" special edition lx 5.0. It has a little less than 20,000 miles. Well my dad decides to take it out for the weekend, and halfway through his trip he realizes that the OVERDRIVE won't kick in. We took it to a tranny shop and they said a 3 cent gramet broke on the throttle linkage, caused the distruction of the OD bands. So now I have to get my tranny rebuilt or just get a new one. Any recommendations? I am in Florida and I rather get a new tranny than a rebuilt one done by the local shop that sucks around here. I do believe it is an AOD because of the linkage on the throttle cable, and not an AODE, because it does not have a Overdrive Solenoid is this correct?

Personally I would find a shop that knows what they are doing and have them rebuild it using upgraded internals such as Kolene steels and blue or red clutch disc, etc along with a good shift kit suchs as the transgo. Don't use any B&M junk. A hardened input shaft would be a good idea as well. Give a call to Andre at Edge Racing and have him set you up with a good convertor for your set up. If your going to rebuild you might as well do it right and gain some performance with it.. This site may help you out as well if your looking for parts.

If you happened to be interested in a shift kit, I have a transgo already installed into the valvebody. It's out of my 93 gt which I never got to use so the shift kit is brand new. All you have to do is drop your valvebody, and bolt mine in, then of course refill the tranny fluid. But if you're interested I'll take $100 for it.
