hey guys I just pick up a clean 92 5.0 only problem is its aod and all stock for now. I have some bolt on for it but I want to save for a c4 or t5 swap I found a t56 for $1600 but I don't know what else I would need for the swap. Every1 I talked to said a c4 is only good for drags I found some for cheap. Does it matter what year they come from on a c4 swap and what else will you need for a c4 swap? My friend dropped 2500 just to go from aod to a t5. I do not want to spend that kind of money on a t5 any ideas?

c-4 is alot stronger than an aod, but you are going to loose overdrive. and t-5 is gonna cost a good bit. but the c-4 would be the best route to go. For the c-4 i think you might have to change the crossmember using FRPP's C4 crossmember (p/n M-5059-A). You will also need to buy a new flexplate from FRPP, p/n M-6375-E302 157-tooth, 50-oz imbalance, for all 1981-up 5.0 V8's. Most of the time, the case fills use the 157 tooth flywheel and the pan fills use the 164 tooth. so you are gonna want a bellhousing made for 157 tooth flexplate. Since the C4 was found in some early-80's Fox cars, it's a nice fit. The later C4 introduced in ’70 with its .839" 26 spline input shaft is considered the heavy duty unit. I think that sums it up. thats the big stuff. your gonna have to find out the little stuff like speedo gears and all that junk.
I found 67 c4 for 250. The reason I want to swap is my aod is sliping the cable under the tb broke so the car would shift like @ 1500rpm every gear so I fixed it and now I don't have over drive. I planing on build this car up I have a 351w being build. But for now its just going to be lt headers gt40 intake and a 65mm tb.
