AOD TV cable adjustment

there is actually a pressure guage that u have to hook up to the tranny to get the right pressure.....should be 35lbs of pressure.....tv cables are ridiculous!!!!

what was said above. Don't mess around with this, if you don't set it with the pressure guage you can expect a shortenend life for your new tranny......

I've always adjusted my AOD's following certian rules, and never had any problems. It was actually one of the best shifting trannys I've driven, and lasted me years with lots of abuse, untill I sold the car.

To properly adjust the TV cable, pop the TV cable out of the throttle body gromet, remove the metal clip that locks the plastic slide to the shaft of the TV cable. Now, with the slide freely moving, have a friend mash down the gas pedal and hold it, car off of course. With the pedal down, pop the TV cable back into the gromet on the throttle body. The plastic slide should still move freely at this point to attach. Now insert the metal clip back into the slide to lock it down, have you friend release the gas pedal, and you are done.

Of course there is a pressure gauge that tranny shops will use to dial in exact line pressure via the TV cable, but I've been told by many people including a tranny builder that the way I just described will work fine.
