I have a 91 GT Convertible That I'm looking to rebuild the trans for.I have some of the basic mods done to it.Hi flow cat pipe and catback exhaust,Cold air intake,3.73 gears.I looking into changing the valve body but the only one I know of is Lentech.What do you think would be the best trans mods for a mostly street/occasional strip 5.0? A shift kit, a Kevlar OD band, a mechanical diode, and good quality clutches and steels.
A deep aluminum pan and an auxiliary transmission cooler wouldn't hurt either.

If your tranny's in good working condition a shiftkit, A+ size OD servo and a converter should be plenty up to 300~350ish HP. If you havnt touched your longblock yet your well under that number and should be fine on stock internals. I would invest in a low pressure drop transcooler also. I hear alot of good things about edge conveters.
If your tranny's got alot of miles on it i would go ahead and drop it and replace your frictions/steels as well as going to a kevlar OD band as mentioned allready.
Im in kinda the same boat on my new 92 lx. Has a fried OD band so its gett'n a full rebuild but will be behind a basicly stock longblock for a while. Im going slightly overkill and going with raybestos red frictions and steels in anticipation of my future mods. I chose a baumann shiftkit/boost valve kit after a bit of research.
Do some research, try to think ahead at what your going to be doing and plan accordingly if your going to drop the tranny now. Lots of good information can be found over at clickclickracing.com.

If you drive the car on the road,just rebuild it and beef the OD band up.We did a TCI Street fighter on our 92 w/ a manual valve body.It's a bear to drive on the road,fun at the track though.If I did it again I'd probably have just went with a nice shift kit in it.

I' say, all '98-up 4R70W internals, with a HEAVY DUTY OD band, Kevlar has a tendency to slip too much and create unecessary heat. A++ OD servo, HD clutches, mechanical diode of course, a good shift kit, and an external cooler.
