well i just put a post up about how my tranny doest shift from 2nd, and was thinking about doing a 5 speed swap, and wouldnt you know it my tranny is completly f'd now... I was on the way to work and it just acts like its in nuetral and will only give me little bits of power at low rpm... Dont even want to bother fixing it so i called some junkyards and i found someone who has a 5 speed 94 gt.... Im going tomororw morning to get the tranny, but i need to know what all i need from that car. I know there is a website that has all the parts, does anyone know it? how long has it taken some of you guys to do this? my friend has a 93 gt 5 speed and hes going to help me with this, but i need some advise from you guys (any tips on doing this). THanks a lot!

i flat-backed mine on the floor with a friend of mine and a female friend getting us drinks :) i started on a sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. and was done by 10:30 p.m. on the same day but it was non stop work, anyways, you need the tranny, flywheel, flexplate, flywheel bolts, clutch cable and for gods sake get a aftermaket quadrant or your going to spend 2 hours trying to get the plastic one to work, you dont need a computer but you DO need the wiring harness for the 5-speed tranny, and remember to install a pilot bearing on the crank oh yeah and the pedals- the swap is pretty straight forward its all basic mechanics its just time consuming but it will get done and you will feel like you added 30rwhp good luck and feel free to ask any questions my e-mail is [email protected]

Grab the driveshaft too. As for the computer, I'd get one form the junkyard car. Mine didn't run right with the auto Computer in there, did run and was driveable, just not right. I 2nd the tip of a good quadrant, and new cable, just get one, and drop the green for a good shifter also. mine took me about 12 hrs in the driveway, really easy to do. If you can remove the stuff from the junkyard car, you're one up, you'll get some good practice before messing with your own car. good luck man, I did this a few years ago, "Holla" if you need anything

the quadrant is under the dash, part of the pedal assy. The quadrant is a plastice cam type of thing, the cable rides on it. stock ones are plastic and wear out with use after xxx,xxx amoutn of miles. I got mine from maximum motorsports, with a new cable and firewall adjuster, made my deal feel like a hydro clutch. You'll see it if/when you remove the pedal assy. if you do the swap go ahead and get this stuff new, it'll be worth it. good luck man

well crap, i just went to the only junkyard in columbus that had a 94-95 with a t5, and it was ****, it had 199,000 miles, and it was missing just about everything but the tranny. I called D&D performance and they said they dont sell a swap kit and didnt seem like they wanted to help me out much. Anyone else sell a swap kit?

It my friend and I about 3 days to do the swap, with about 6 hours of work each day. It actually took 75% of that time to take out the old stuff. Putting in the new pedal assembly was probably the hardest part. Get a T-50 torx bit for the steering shaft.

Getting to the top bolts when the AOD-E was in was difficult. We found it easier to get to them from the engine bay than from the bottom.

Hopefully you don't run into a problem after the swap like I did. The King Cobra pressure plate and flywheel had to be taken out again to be balanced because they weren't balanced right.

stangparts.com sells the kit

Also midwestmustang.net sells a kit

im selling my nitrous kit for some extra cash for this swap, i have close to 2 grand now....think thats enouph for a 3550 swap? i dont know, the last 2 days has been manual transmission boot camp for me but i know that if i do a t5 swap that im going to blow that thing just as quick as the aode...i'll get my nitrous back in a couple months when i recoup from this dent in my funds.

is the 3550 built for foxes only and i have to get the input shaft spacer or whatever it is? or do they make a sn95 one? if i got one and the bellhousing is the rest of the swap the same as if i was throwing a t5 in there?

well right now im about done taking out my auto... just need to losen the tourqe converter bolts and engine to tranny bolts, it took a while to get everything else off and out of the way....

alrighty! ive got 2 engine to tranny bolts off, but the next to are impossible, the one's that are by the tranny dipstick. How does that dipstick come out, and how in the world can i get those 2 bolts out? the dipstick is bracketed to the 2nd bolt, and i need the dipstick out to get to either one? im about ready to cut the damn thing off...Also with a 5 speed there are no tranny cooler lines correct? if there are i need to get some new ones cause i couldnt get the old ones off so i cut them.
