From my signature you can tell I will be making power on the outskirts of my AOD-E. I have a great transmission shop who will put all the parts in. Friend has taken his 10 second car there and no problems with the trans. My question for you guys is who has the most complete and best rebuild kit. I know level10, PA, artcarr, lentech etc.... I just want to have to do this once so I am looking for what will hold the most power.

Look into the raybestos blue plate special clutches. Thats what I plan on running in my car. Make sure you use the regular steels and not kolene coated ones. A tech at raybestos said they haven't had good resaults with them.

Try transtar it's a parts warehouse and they do public sales. Most of the rebuild kits are the same the only real differencs are the steels clutches.

It's probably best to do the trans the first time, and do it right... but my stock AODE held 650rwtq, before it really let go, and even at that it had a slight slip, and flare on the shifts. Not recomended though..

Personally I would'nt deal with any of the big name companies for that sort of thing, but thats just me..
When your dealing with a local company or small business ( being its someone who has a good reputation, been around for a while, ect) you get better service, quality, and usually a better product. To me, it seems some of the, atleast convertor/trans companies out there are just trying to make $$ rather then give the customer a product they feel is top notch quality.. I think you understand what I'm trying to say.
Just my opinion.. But you should atleast at minimum invest in a large cooler and multi disk lock up converter.

Oink, I apprecatie the input.... it is funny you mention it about the big companies. The guy I buy some parts off us is a good friend of the family.... he has a 383 vortech 1992 Notch that is running mid 10's. He was always running the performance automatic C4 transmissions. About a month ago he went to a local shop he heard good things about and gave it a try. He paid 1/2 of what he did at Perferformance Automatic and said it was the best transmission the car has ever seen. His exact words were, "I'm starting to think these big companies are just using there name for money". I myself would rather do smaller business as they can pay more attention to me individually and I'm not just another sale. I found a great deal on a fresh built AOD-E from a small local shop that give me a 1 year no hassle warranty, free tech service.... AOD-E even has a wide gear set, all the bands, mechanical diode for $1000. They say trans will be good to 600HP.... I am thinking of givign them a try as I don't want to spend 2500 on my trans.... got a whole new Vortech SQ-Trim for less then that. Thanks for the info!
