AOD's, are they that slow?

Yea Heres the order in which I did my AOD and trust me some guys could not catch my 1st to 2nd gear shift, by the time they touch there clutch I was already in 2nd, I even chirp from 1st to 2nd. hope this helps
1. 3.73 gears
2. 2500 or 2800 stall converter
3. Transgo Valve bodie(not kit) this an actual modified Valve bodie take old ones out.
4. single solid input shaft summit racing has them.
I would of course rebuild the whole thing with some better internal stuff but this is the order on what I did and man does it really make a difference.

That's where I'd like to have my AOD, eventually. Very nice street/strip set-up.

I have 1, 2, & 3 on this list. (2800 stall) This is the secret recipe to a kick ass AOD.

On my 87 i have the 3.73's...and a good shift kit...I need a torque convertor now...
