Appearance mods questions

So far, I am inclined towards the following aesthetic modifications:
Autometer gauge clusters;
Mach1 chin;
SS bumper inserts;
What do you guys think.

I have a few questions. Does the autometer cluster directly plug into the factory cables? In other words, can I just remove the stock one and put it in without having to change anything.

How hard is the chin piece to install? Do I need to drill any holes in my spoiler? Would it look good on my laser red car?

Finally, for the stainless steel inserts. Are they actually made of ss or just cheap vinyl? Do they look good and match the overall body desing of the bumper?

Your input is greatly appreaciated. Thanks :nice:

the ss inserts are (im pretty sure) vinyl thats reflective but yes it does look good for the overall car i think.
about the chin spoiler cant say if you have to drill the front bumber but ive seen them on a red mustang and i think it looks good.

They make vinyl and stainless inserts. The vinyls are in the $10 range and the SS ones are guessing in the $50 range.

The chin spoiler is an easy 30 minute install. I used some cheap plastic spring clamps to hold it into place when I found where I wanted it. Then drilled the holes in the bumper and pushed the pins in. Easy as that.

As for the cluster I think there is a chip in your stock one you need to take out and place in the autometer one. I think that is where the miles, etc are stored. Not 100% sure but there are others who know better than I.

Buy a 1/4" drill bit for the chin spoiler install. It's the correct size so the push pins fit perfectly. It took me 20 mins to install my chin spoiler.

Get a Mach 1 grill delete as well. Your front end will look completely different with both these peices.

I have the Stainless Steel inserts on my car. I love them. They are subtle but make a good impression. My friends tell me when the light is right, they cast MUSTANG onto the blacktop as i drive along. Cool effect.

Thanks for the replies. I think I will go with the ss inserts and pay the extra money. As for the chin spoiler, I don't know if I want to drill holes in my bumper. I would consider the grille delete except that I think it protects the radiator from eventual road debris.

So, when I get tired of the front look of the car, I would consider the mach 1 package. The gauges seem nice but I have heard have problems with them because they are too bright. :shrug:

I may do that as well. It would match more with the trim of the car. Although, the GT badges are ss so both are possible.

I took all my GT badges off my Mustang. SInce my car is silver, i wanted to go with a silver/chrome/stainless theme. The GT emblems stuck out like a sore thumb to me on the sides and the black background didn't sit well with me.

So i put on SS inserts, V6 running pony side emblems and in place of the GT emblem on the trunk, i put a chrome "V8" emblem off the side of a 98-02 Explorer/mountaineer for a different look.

That along with the Mach 1 stuff up front, and i get a few people wondering what the hell my GT is. :D

you can see most of those mods on my cardomain page.
The inserts are simple, and the chin spoiler is very easy (just use some masking tape, and a buddy and some beer dont hurt either... well as long as you dont drink too much)
