Are aftermarket heads a "waste" with stock cam?

There ya go Thumper ported heads and Tmoss ported lower, I've heard this will get you in the 12's with gears and some traction.

Just a ported lower intake? Leave the stock upper? So is the stock upper not very restrictive or something?

Thanks Micheal, I'll give those links a read. I definately have alot to learn about understanding cam specs. Just to reiterate though, I actually don't want to change the cam at all (in the aod I'm buying). However, I do plan on swapping the Ecam out of my hatch at some point.
