Are all main girdles created equal? discuss

Mine was just a loud bang, felt like the trans broke, not the engine.

My buddy blew his, and the head of the crank came off with his supercharger pulley, and to insult to injury he hit it with his back tire and broke his rim.

If they break at the #2 main which is very common you usually see oil pressure go away...

Girdles, I feel like 04 Sleeper if anything they hold your high dollar parts in the motor where they belong. The lower intake is a great girdle when you split it in half, it is the only thing holding it together..lol

As someone already posted I like the DSS girdle, they fit great no machining required... I hate milling material off of stock caps.

S&B, nice planter my wife would have a heart attack. I was watching RAD the other weekend and my wife asked in a sarcastic time. Who sent you this "wonderful" movie again

Lifter girdles on a 5.0L 302 block are a joke IMO as well

Paulie, you have a good block "69 351W" with some strength and as long as you use good fasteners you should be OK, we have run 800HP through them. You could convert over to 4 bolt on the center 3 caps you have the meat in the mains.

i've seen a girdle on here before that was way more beefy and looked alot different than the typical ones dunno who makes the girdle but i know that i had seen them on a thread with mexican blocks and they definitly looked pretty sweet. i think some guys were running like 800 hp with the mex block and that girdle.

BTW Rad is probly the best movie ever...

I got a girdle on my 351w, havnt got to test it out yet, but i didnt have to grin any main caps, i just had to grind around where the oil pump sit in at, heres a pic....
