Are my rear brakes ok? Pics inside.

Hey,

I noticed while looking at my rear driver side brake, this peice of metal shown in the first pic below, is kinda hanging, between the caliper and brake pad.

Should it be like that?

The second pic is my passenger side brake, and it doesnt even have the peice of metal attached?

Do I need to fix/change anything?

I had the same problem but on a front rotor. Everything was fine until the backing plate kept slipping down till it started to cut a groove in the rotor at the hub. if the pads are old might as well replace but if not I would just keep an eye on it.
 
Yea I agree with GTA_V6_Mustang...it looks like an anti rattle shim/plate. I would just pull it off. Pry it out or take the caliper off if you have too. Its not that hard. But yea if it isnt bothering you and its not grinding against the rotor or anything you can just leave it that way if you want.
