Hey guys, my wife has a 2002 v6 mustang and she wants to do some things to make it look and run a little better. I want to add a CAI,I hope more for increase in gas mileage than power. I saw on ebay they sell kits for like $35.00 and was wondering if these were any good or are they a joke. It would be nice to save the cash for other mods. Thanks

Hey, I'm pretty new here, but I bought a Cold Air Intake Kit from a seller on ebay. I have a 2003 v6. The kit was about 30 bucks plus 25 for shipping. The kit was complete except the guy sent me a wrong fitting, which he replaced for me for free. The kit works great. Even the filter, its a replica of a K&N, and i actually wanted to buy a k&n filter for the kit, which is like 45 bucks alone. But I bought the one that came with the kit0 along with me and the guy at Car Parts said that it was just as good as the K&N and wasn't worth spending the extra money. The kit makes a really cool sucking sound when u give it some gas, and it looks really really nice under the hood. I've heard that they do give you slightly better fuel economy but personally I haven't checked. Hope that helps.

Also, most of the kits that come from ebay come with no installation instructions, but if you just search online there are plenty of places that have step by step instructions.

Hope this helps!

you CAN make your own CAI...however you are looking at one problem on that. These CAI's that have been made by MAC and such companies have spent a lot of money on deciding what angles the pipes should be bent at to reduce air friction. The air friction causes the engine to work harder to pull air...you lose mileage and hp if it is getting too much friction. if you use that homeade kit you won't get any added hp because while you are pulling the cool air in, it is causing so much friction going over those 90 degree turns it's making your engine work harder. So I say get an ebay CAI and dont worry bout that homeade one, fork over about $20 more to get the one from ebay!

you can get 45 degree angles in pvc pipe too, i am going to do this soon, and it doesn't gain the power so much as with the "cold air intake", as it does without the baffled stock intake pipe.
