I dunno if it's not suppose to come with instructions or something, but it didn't. I got the package today, and it just came in a brown-box with the kit inside. It didn't come with any screws, just clamps so I wonder if that's right too. Anyways, I was wondering if someone could either guide me through how to install it, or if it is similar to other cold-airs out there. That way, I could just find the instructions for a MAC or BBK cold-air and go through it. The other solution would be to send it back to the shop, and ask for one with instructions (or the instructions themselves). Help!!!

Good luck with that Tiawan made cold air kit. I would send it back.

Err, I've never done a cold-air install before. I know it's easy, but not easy enough that a first-timer can do it without the instructions.

Here's a basic idea of how a full cold air intake is routed...



Everything connects together real easy with hose clamps. With your kit, you'll probably have a rubber sleeve that fits over top of every connection, and you would use two hose clamps per connection, one on each tube.

For example.. intake to tube1, connect with rubber sleeve and clamp both the intake side and tube1 side, then tube1 to MAF, then MAF to tube2, and that tube2 should go into the fenderwell where it attatches to the filter somehow.

This can't be too hard to figure out dude, just think about it for a minute.


If this isn't a fenderwell kit... well then, there's no excuse for you to not see how it goes together.

Yea its incredibly easy and kind of self explanitory if you lay all the parts out in the same basic shape as the one in the pic above and see where the MAF goes between the two pipes. Just remove your airbox and its really basic stuff. I had a bracket in my kit that held the maf I had to install but yours might not have that. Good luck dude.

I don't think the key issue here is whether you can figure it out or not - I think the issue is whether you got what you paid for. I can't imagine a kit like that with no clamps. It should have some sort of instructions - sure you can probably figure it out, but it makes you wonder about the completeness of the kit. And any kind of warranty is likely voided once you start messing around with it trying to make it work, adding other separately sourced parts. If it were me, I'd box it right back up, call who you bought it from, and tell them to send the big brown truck right back around to pick it up because the kit's not complete.

He said he has clamps Still good point to check with the manufacturer and see that you got everything that is supposed to come with the kit. If not send it back for a refund, a cold air kit is about the equivalent to removing your air silencer in HP gains IMHO.

Good catch Daniel - sorry, I mis-read his original post. For most mildly modded street cars, CAI is for cosmetics only; no HP improvement over the stock box with silencer removed and high-flow flat panel filter.

I'm not surprised -- I had some UPR stuff that you would think would come with insturctions, not. I do have to say, after calling several times and not getting the answers I needed, I did find other people on the internet who could help me.

But other than that, the products were great.

Well, you guys were right, it was easier then I thought. However, the kit isn't installed. I have the dreaded problem with the tube that connects the TB to the MAF. I can't get it to bend enough to clear the strut tower. If I bend it far enough to clear it, the rubber coupling pops off the TB. I hear this is a problem for most cold-airs on Stangs, how did you fix yours?

I just played with mine a bit to make it fit, it still rubs occasionally.

You can try tightening the tb clamp first. Then move the tube until it gets to an angle that will clean the strut tower, hold it there, and tighten that clamp. It helps if you use only the barest minimum amount of overlap on the TB to hold the sleeve on. That way you have more "meat" on the tube side to allow more angle. I just read that, and it probably only makes sense to me. Hope it helps

my BBK fit perfectly and have had no problems, you can go the there website they have a section just for install information. quality may also be a issue in your case, but i have never used UPR stuff so dont have any basis for the opinion.

You know my answer already - if it really doesn't fit, send it back. If it's touching the tower because of a forced installation - the constant rubbing will at least remove coatings/paint from both tower and elbow. If the elbow's plastic/composite/abs/pvc/rubber, if will eventually rub through or break.
