You know, putting them in wasn't bad thanks to the tip of dropping the rear end. pulled the bottom bolts on the shock and two bolts on the uca's and literally tossed them in there. Lining them up where they hung straight was another story though..

And yeah. He's had it for several months and goes solo in June. And I have let him drive it around the block. Not far though.. no tags, inspection, insurance etc.

Good to see the thread happen. So where are the pics of your son working on the car? He shouldn't be taking pictures of YOU working on the car, it's supposed to be the other way around Just giving you a hard time bro! lol.

To me this thread isn't about the pile of horse manure, it's a Father & Son build. Take a lot of pictures (and don't lose them!) of the two of you working on his first "hot rod". He will remember this and appreciate it the most when he's in his thirties and the car most likely is long gone but he will have pictures and sweet memories of this build with his Dad. My Dad was the same way, and now that he's gone all I have is memories and pictures of doing exactly what your doing now. Good luck!

Yeah we both value the time together. He voices it regularly and it's the main reason my car doesn't get worked on much.

Oh, and that isn't me in the pics, that's my son, LOL. He's a big boy. 6ft and 225 lbs. Starting offensive tackle 1st string..

Love it! Btw my boy was starting guard on state champ. 5'10-240 senior year(fairly small school of 650 students). He never really liked the "car thing" though the big sissy. Lol(he loves it when I call him that!)

Here's a contribution @Noobz347 made.. The suggestion of powerstop brakes.

I got the ceramic pads too, I'll try to scratch up a pic of them.. I bought a new set of reman calipers, hoses, M/C rotors (above) and wheel cylinders. Both of which were shot. I tried for two hours to get fluid to the rear and finally discovered the prop valve was fubar. fortunately, I have a parts car on the back forty we robbed one off of..

^these are not the pads we used.. I threw them on the shelf..

^Mo bettah whoa. Noobz, if these don't work I'm holding you responsible..

The back looked like this:

I knocked the big chunks off, and replaced the wheel cyls.. I'm thinking I may just move my entire rear wheel plates over since I no longer need them.. these actually work now, though. cleaned and degreased..

Here's him installing the MC before hours of "PUMP,PUMP,PUMP,PUMP..OK HOLD IT!"

I'll tell ya, all the bad mouthing we do about "4 cylinder brakes on GTs" around here we forget that BUNCH of us spent years making those brakes pretty damned good because there was no alternative.

I'd still put my stopping power in those days against any factory SN setup on the street. Sure the SNs could improve a LOT more but meh... We did what we could and it worked very well.

I hope those ceramic pads work well for you. Did you buy shoes made with the same materials for the rear? You are going to replace those slave cylinders too, right?

No on the pads.. after cleaning them up there was still enough to use, so I'm going to see how they work. . Yes on the cylinders, they are all new and the whole assy was cleaned up and inspected, just didn't catch a pic before buttoning it up.

If you have the means, I would put brand new pads on the back too. A match for whatever you have on the front. Not sure I could put my trust into whatever you found on it.

Really Noobz?...You're gonna make a statement where the meat and potatoes of what you got/had on your plate to stop your car (10" rotors, single piston calipers, and drum brakes ) would compare to 11.65" minimum rotors on all four corners?
What was Ford thinking when they went ahead and arbitrarily upgraded all of those SN's to that config, when all they had to do was to call you and ask how you got your 10" drilled rotor'd, green hawk padded/Duralast ceramic rear shoe'd, fox to outperform their factory Cobra stopping power?

You go on ahead, You skid-mark layin', 15" tire flat-spottin', Fox stoppin' fool.....
