Ok, got my 96 gt cammed up and tuned up.

Current setup as of 9/1/09
Stock internals/120k miles/good health
comp XE274H cams/w springs and seals
4.10 gears
built trans, stock lockup converter
24# injectors
shorty headers, no cats h pipe and 3" exhaust w/no mufflers and turndowns
typhoon manifold with HPS adaptors.
3" cai, 75mm tb, and new intake plenum
255lph fuel pump
adj fuel regulator
90mm lightning mass air calibrated to my 24# injectors
SCT custom tuning ...edit.... running 93 octane with 104 mix 80/20 mix

NPI underdog project.

Runs like a raped ape now, but i need more stall. Was stalling at 2400-2500 with no work to engine, with the new mods stalling a 2700 ish.
Needs to stall at around 3400 with the cams i have.

Anyhow, a new tci streetfighter unit is 900 bux.

I want to supercharge with a Vortech v3si 6psi kit.

Do i spend the cash on the converter or buy the supercharger and hope the stall comes up some with the increased power?

Im worried that i will spend the cash on the converter and it will stall out too high with the extra 75-100 horse from the vortech.

Anyone have any feelings on how these cams will do with some boost?
Wasnt planning on forced induction, but i dont see any more power from this engine without boost or going under the knife and bumping the c/r up some. And i dont want it bottle fed either.

If anyone knows of some other tricks to get some more out of it let me know.
Thanks.

PI swap will give you a nice compression bump and you can use your new cams. Unfortunately the PI heads would compound your problems of needing the higher RPM stall, as well as limit your boost potential due to the higher static CR, but it is something to consider.

The Vortech could also work, and maybe give you some torque down low, letting you squeak by with the lower stall. I'm not sure on that.

All I got.

Run it at the track and see what it needs! If the 60' isn't below 2.0, work on getting it down.

I'm a big fan of getting off the line fast and hard. At both the track and stop light, if you can put the power down first, you can walk away and make it difficult to catch up. I would definately spend money on sticky tires and a stall converter.

I say this because the vortech won't help your 60' times that much because you just won't have the rpms. I don't think you'll have a problem with the stall being too loose on a vortech car with a converter too. The peak torque with a vortech be upwards of 4500+rpm. The converter will help even more, keeping the rpms up where you are making boost.

My 88 has a stock pinto torque converter. If I mash the gas from a stop, it only stalls to 2400ish. Soon as I hit boost, I don't see less than about 3400, and launching from a dead stop with a small shot of nitrous, it doesn't stay below 4000.
