For those of you that replaced the head unit in your mach 460 to an aftermarket deck. Do you get this high-pitched frequency noise coming out of your speakers everytime you turn the car on and the deck turns on? I got a wire harness from site on sound, they special ordered it, said its special for the mach 460 and I get this high pitched squeal everytime. This other guy I know has the same problem.

Is this fixable? Do you guys have this too? If not, which harness WON'T do this?

Thanks !

is it like a whine? If so then it sounds like the audio lines are run with a power, which will cause a whine through your speakers. just an idea

It's not the same noise everytime. Its a loud, high pitched squeaky noise accompanied with a "blip" sometimes. It is really strange.

I just did a thread about the Mach 460 head unit. The harness I used was 20 bucks and I don't have ANY distortion/noise/backfeed. It's by Metra part # 70-5511. I picked it up at Best Buy for about 20 bucks.

I would bet it has to do with the fact you there are factory amps in the system. if you wire a powered output to an amplifier input you can have some issues. you can overdrive the input so to speak. the harness you bought may be a pos. you could proably figure something out yourself. if you took the rca ouput from you deck and wired it to the factory amps it may work better.

I have the same problem with the whine noise. I was told that is a bad ground from the wiring harness. what I was told to do was hook up a direct chasis ground to the back of the radio and it should solve the problem, I just havent done it yet.

If you do it let me know if it works.

if you use the harness, which puts powered output into the stock amp, it will create a lot of noise.
after i got an amp bypass for mine the noise was gone.
basically wut hognutz said.
