Audio Upgrades

I know I've posted about this a while back and didn't get any responses... but I am going to try again

I currently have the avic-z1 installed in my car. Everything else is bone stock. I always used to upgrade my interior speakers with high quality replacements... Usually Infinity Kappa's. Now, I notice that our cars do not come with a component speaker setup in the front. I would love to replace my current stock mid range speakers in the front with a component set. The midrange aftermarket is easy to install in the factory location - but where to put the tweeter? Has anyone installed a component setup in their car? I plan in installing a 4 channel Rockford Fosgate amplifer to power these new front components and rear speakers. I know I could install the tweeter in the door (cutting a whole), but maybe a company out there makes custom made enclosures?

Now - as for the subwoofer... I have 3 12" Rockfords sitting inside of an enclosure in my basement... I am tryin to steer away from the huge amount of base. What have you all done out there with replacing the factory amps/subs with aftermarket amps/subs trying to keep the original location?

Any pictures are welcomed including any custom work! I've done some custom stuff over the years too.

I use to work at Circuit city, and kicker makes component speakers that the Tweeter can screw into the Cone.

You unscrew the center "dust cover' and the tweets thread through and screw in it's place.

It is a really sweet idea if you want component sound but don't want to cut holes for tweeters. It doesn't separate out the sound but it doesn't matter in our cars because the speakers are so high up on the door anyways.
I had some regualr kicker speakers in my other car and was pleasntly surprised with their performance. Very accurate sound quality. definatly not Kappa's But very comparable. For the price.

I am an old employee of circuit city i have done the audio system thing at real low cost (employee beneifits and knowing the system) i put a $2000 system in my last car for about $400 and it was awesome, but the difference you get isn't really worth the money. When you have to pay full retial prixce now. Compared to a brand new car these days they arn't too bad. My 08' has mp3, Ipod input (AUX), that is all i really need. so no point in putting a new head unit in. Unless i want more pretty colors. I like the sound of my engine when i am putting around town with the windows down.

I listen to my engine more now than i did back then in my 2002 Cougar lol.

My stock system is loud enough, if I was 20 years younger it might not be. You can only stand Meatloaf and Boston so loud with a touch of Aerosmith and Bob Seiger hee hee.

I installed some Infinity 6x8 component speakers with the tweeter built in, but it's able to be adjusted for a better direction. They come with built in crossovers. The thing I like about them is - no odd tweeter sticking out of the door panel. And, they're infinitys, so they sound great. An amp definitely helps.

i replaced shaker 1000 with jvc-kw avx800, both sets of 6x8s with pioneers and i kept my original subwoofer box but replaced the woofers with memphis audios. i run a 500w fosgate on the rear subs and a 1000w fosgate 4 channel on the other 6x8s. the 8" front subs i left alone. thats as custom as im gonna get
