auto to manual conversion

I have a 66 mustang with an auto trans and 289 in it right now. Im looking to convert it to a manaul transmission over the winter. right now i would go with a T5 but its only rated for 330 ft lbs of torque. either next year or the year after i want to put a new engine in it. probablly a 347 running about 400-450hp. so my question is what maual transmission would you guys recomend??

I'd still go with a T5, you can replace the internals and make them good up to 450hp.

You other choice is the 4 speed toploader.

I'd look at a TKO 500/600 vs the cost of a T5 and the internals upgrade.
Could you do the upgrade or would a shop have to do the upgrade. Outside labor costs money.

The T5 will be just a little better fit than the TKO, but the TKO is a much stouter tranny.

Id have to get someone to do the upgrade if i go with a T5
