Autometer Water Temp Gauge Question

Hello everyone. I tryed searching the forum and I get different answers from everyone so I wanted to start a new post. I am installing a autometer (PN4331) water temp gauge in my 98 GT. Now everyone says the best place to go is on the bolt on the left side of the block. Others say there is a T of some sort that works on the intake. I wanted go know if anyone has done either or and how it works out. I also read putting it in the block is no good b/c the sensor falls into the block but I saw on the autometer site there is a fitting (PN2275) that works. So if anyone can help me out on this, I would appreciate it.

make a t-fitting off of the stock sensor location, this would probably be the easiest. any auto parts store will carry the stuff you need to do this.

I looked at other posts and they said it didnt get a accurate reading.

Running it in the left side of the block is probably the cleanest, but keep in mind, that the back left side of the block tends the run hotter. I have mine there, and it can range anywhere from 10 to 15 degrees hotter in the summer than what the ect sensor reads in the intake.

When all works right, you can actually see when the thermostat opens and closes this way.

+1 as well, but you gotta make sure its in the right location on the housing or your reading will be off.

Place sensor in the side of the housing so it's always the coolant flow.
