I ordered an aviator fuel pump assembly with http://www.fordpartsnetwork.com/

I received it yesterday but it is labelled 3C5U-9H307-CB instead of 3C5Z-9H307-CA as I requested. Is 3C5U-9H307-CB an old part number for the aviator fuel pump assembly?
If the case, would it flow also 285lph as the most recent aviator pump?

Thanks guys!

Randy just posted back and said that is OLD number , you should give him a call and order the correct one from him and return the one you got or get in touch with where ever you got this one and see if they will exchange it for you .....IMO ..... always call randy on stuff like this .......

OK Thanks for the advise. I will check with him, ...if I can ever get my posting issue fixed.

Also did you make some holes in the GT fuel pump bucket?

yes I drilled about 6-8 quarter inch holes just in various places around the bucket ......and keep a quarter tank of gas or more in it .......

OK that's the fuel pump assembly they shipped me. Does it look at least like an aviator's?

Randy seems to say on the Depot that if there is a pb with that batch it would affect the floating unit but not the pump itself, so I guess I should be fine...

So I just have to unplug the wires, remove the fuel line metal clip and install the pump back in the original GT bucket instead of the stock one?

Should I try to save the metal clip to reuse it on the stock GT assembly?

OK Guys I need some help here.

I have removed the 3 bolts behind the gaz door, dropped the tank, take off the 6 bolts that hold the fuel pump assembly cover, but I have no clue on how the remove the stock fuel pump assembly from inside the tank. I have never seen a stock GT pump assembly, and there are supposedly 2 plastic clips that hold the pump assembly down in the tank, but without enough cleareance, I can't stick my head in there to see what I am doing.

Should I drop the tank further? Do you have a pic of a stock GT pump assembly showing the clips so that I can have an idea of what I am suppose to look for?

Any advice welcome!!!

there are two plastic clips over in your tank that hold the GT bucket in , i think you have to push them towards each other , but i might be wrong , you might have to pull them apart to get the bucket to release and come up out of there , you will feel the tabs sticking up higher than the round bucket part .... cut the metal tab off the aviator , dont need that , when you get the bucket out and get the screws loose from the top you will see how it is a drop in replacement once removed from the aviator assembly , they are the exact same in size and how they hook up ..... while you have the GT bucket out though drill a few small holes in it around the sides to let more gas in and then put it back together , just remember to keep a quarter tank or more of gas in it ...... good luck .... hope this helps .....

I had to drop the tank a little further to be able to get the fuel pump assembly out. I did not have to disconnect any fuel line nor connector.

This is how it looks like. The GT bucket is much larger than I expected. They could fit 2 pumps easily in there. I guess you should need to stay on WOT pretty long before you dry it. When the tank is full, as it is not sealed on the top they are plenty of gaps for the fuel to sneak into. Anyway I will follow everybody's advice and stay away from WOT when less than 1/4 tank. Be carefull with the floating unit when you take the assembly out. It is facing the front of the car. Notice that they are two socks. One at the bottom of the pump inside the bucket, and one for the bucket.

The old GT pump stamped F80U-9350-AA on the left and the new aviator stamped 3C5U-9350-AB with the GT sock already on. They are similar externally except for the outlet, different shape and slightly longer for the aviator. That concerned me at first, but apparently it is working fine.

The aviator is a brushless design supposed to flow 285lph vs 115 lph for the stoch GT.

Took me about 3 hours to complete the installation (yes I am slow...) and test for leaks (I changed also the fuel filter) before a raod test.

No more fuel pressure drop after 5000rpm! :nice: Stays above 40psi all the time. But now I see with the Autotap that I am pegging the 80mm stock MAF (44lb/mn) around 5900. Time to go with a 90mm LMAF!

what do you mean by Autotap shows that 880mm MAF is flowing 44lb/mn??? your sig says your running 42lb injectors. do you mean that your MAF wasnt calibrated for them??
