I own a 98 Mustang Gt. I havea squeakin problem. Everytime I cruise down the road with the windows down I hear this squeakin sound coming from the right side of the car. It is realy loud around the 35 mph mark but when you get up to 60 you cant really hear it as much. It also goes away when you brake pretty hard. I tried pulling up the parking brake while just coasting slowly and it goes away when I do this. Any suggestions? It sounds like an eep noise if you can comprehend what that means.

When was the last time you replaced your brake pads?

Go check your brake fluid and see if it is a little low. It is located on the drivers side of the engine bay, all they way to the rear near the firewall.

I replaced the pads not to long ago cause of this problem and it is still doing the same thing. I have plenty of brake fluid as well as I have checked all of these things. It i sjust a god awful loud squeaking noise and I dont know what it is. I have also replaced the rotor as well thinking it may had been a warped rotor or something but thats not it. Cause the last rotor that I had on there had been ate up bad.

And not sure if this helps any but I have noticed the right rear rim is getting a lot of brake dust on it. None of the other rims get it plus with the whole pulling up on the parking brake and it going away I am like 99% sure its coming from the right rear.

Who did the work?

When i removed my engine i had to drop the front suspenstion. In doing so i bent the dust shiels behind the rotors. Nothing major, but it cause a bad squeeking in the front. I would check those, just in case.

Well I had someone else put the rotor on but it was squeakin before he messed with it cause I had a bolt seized up that I was unable to get out. But how should I go about checking the dust covers? But if it was that wouldnt it being continuous and not go away if I pulled up on the parking brake? Cause when the parking brake begins to engage it goes away

Well the dust covers are the thin metal piece behind brake disc. Just look behind your rim to see if it is touching, but i doubt it will be it. I would check it anyway.

There are two metal clips that go on each side of the brake pad, for the life of me i cant remember what they are called. But if those are not installed, i think it may cause the pad to move around and cause a squeeking sound.

I cant thing of what it would be, it sounds like it could be a number of things. So it is kinda going to be hard to diagnose over the internet.

Maybe somebody else can chime in and help, but i would just swing by a dealer and have them look at it.

Well now that I think about it i am missing the clips that do hold on the pads for the outside pad? Maybe that is the problem. Is there anywhere I can buy those things?

Run to a Napa, advanced auto parts, etc and see if you can get them from there. Last resort would be the dealership, they will charge an arm and a leg for anything.

I hope that fixes your squeek.
