B cam ok with GT40p's?

well I got some used GT40p's hear and I'm gona be sendin them off to get worked...

that being said, is there any off the shelf cams besides the B cam with 1.7 rockers that would do better with this combo?

I heard the B cam with 1.7 rockers would be a pretty good match with this combo plus its cheap... and sounds realy nice...

any crane or comp cams that might work better?

Keep in mind your shorties may not work with the P's - the spark plug angle is different. Be sure you try them to see - most headers you can't get several of the spark plugs out because of interference with the header. Many also have problems with spark plug wires/boots burning because they're so close to the header. Ford Racing's new shorties will work with the P heads.

I would suggest looking at CompCams XE line - much more contemporary designs than the B....whatever you do, have the springs upgraded.

no they wont clear, i was eating the passenger rear cylinder spark plug boot every other week with my MAC Lt's and P heads. i ran the same exact setup you are thinking about doing for years, ported P's, 1.7 and B cam. this was years ago, just recently i switched to a more up to date setup.

i have regular gt-40 iron heads ported all to hell with an F cam and 1.7 roller rockers. i built my motor to someday go forced induction(blower or turbo for noobs) but i must say that my combo runs awsome in N/A trim. id go for the f cam over the b cam anyday. as long as you have the clearance for it.....the f cam with 1.7''s has about .540 lift....

I had the B cam on 1.7's but on a set of thumpers. Recently sold the B and 1.7's but I can tell you that it was a good setup. There are better cam's out there than the B cam, but the price is nice.

anyone know if there is spark plug clearance issues with the GT-40 aluminum turbo swirl heads? I havent put mine on yet, and i have a pair of bbk equal shorties to go with them but everyone says that if u have P heads u need the FMS headers... will I need them or is the turbo swirl a different design than the P head?

The turbo swirl head is a different design than the P (chamber) -- but I've never heard of any spark plug issues with them. I have them on mine - no plug issues.

jaidedeye - peak lift has absolutely nothing to do with p to v clearance.....
