B&M Shifter

So I was at Hot August Nights in Reno this year and I went to the Big Boy's Toys store...Holy crap they had some cool stuff there, as well as two hot models, but I digress...

So, I stopped in at the B&M booth to ask them if they had their short shifter for the 05+ Mustangs out yet...Sure enough they do, and the actually had one on display. Felt like a nice solid unit (but I would expect no less from B&M). The rep said he had one on his 05 and gave it a thumbs up, but I would like some opinions from those that aren't paid to say it is nice. It also appears to be a steal at $200 through Summit Racing, compared to the $250+ for some of the other shifters.

I couldn't find any reviews when searching, so if anyone has any input that would be great.

I have had the B&M Shifter in my 06 GT for about 3 weeks now. The first thing I noticed when I first got in after having it installed is that the shifter is taller than the stock one. At first I was not happy about that but now that I have used it a while it works very well. The shifts are very solid and you know you are in gear. You can slap the shifter from 2nd to 3rd without missing a beat. Under hard acceleration this shifter performs way better than the stock one. One drawback is that more noise gets into the cabin then before but I have heard that other ones have the same issue. I only notice it when the windows are up and the radio is of or low volume.

I have the Hurst Competition Plus chrome/white ball and the same sort of observations apply. Easy to fit, firmer and shorter shift with the rubberiness of the stock shifter removed. I wouldn't say it was noisier at all, but you feel a bit more mechanical contact through the lever. It was $200 from LM Performance. I chose it because it has the classic 60's look that really suits the 2005 Mustang.

I have some experience with Hurst and B&M, me personally I just think the B&M shifters have a better feel. IMHO

Hey I work for pro 5.0 and the reason why our shifter and Steedas shifters are more expensive is because our shifters are more expensive to make. We both use billet components through out. Our shifters are made to shift better 50,000 miles from now. We even use anodized steel on all of the wearable parts that take the most abuse. We also use a highly porous Teflon material for our center ball. It is the same material that doctors use for hip replacements because it is sooo durable. The Quality of the material also makes it self lubricating. It is permeated with Lucas grease. It took us 2 years just to decide on the best grease to use. We pride ourselves on making the best and we also commend Steeda for coming out with ever better products that help us push ourselves to the limit of technology, Materials, and craftsmanship.
