bassani or DrGas X pipe?

Dr. Gas sound great but I would go with the bassani, you will pick up alittle bit more power and you really can't beat the sound of the bassani. And if you want loud remember NO cats.

Actually the Dr. Gas will make more power, the crossover is closer to the engine wich helps with scavenging. If you look at the cars in NMRA most of them are using a Dr. Gas design.

Agreed...but you can also get a VRS x-pipe that is a direct copy of the Dr.Gas for cheaper.

Anything offroad will sound sick.

forget bassini and dr. gas x-pipes....why pay 300 bucks for that........get a mac o/r h-pipe and call it a day......TALK ABOUT BALLSY NOISE!
well I have already got a mac prochamber under there with warlock mufflers but I just want something a little louder and meaner. I am thinking about getting a set of headers as well, to hopefully help out.

Replacing your pro chamber with an x-pipe is gonna make it quieter!! The x-pipe is usaully the quietest of the mid pipes.

the x pipe will be less raspy then his prochamber believe it or not. the prochamber sounds "exotic" when under load but quiet at idle. the x pipe is quiet at idle but loud and raspy when under load. i'd stick with the prochamber and put a better muffler in, maybe an ultraflo, spintech or the like. they'll sound mean with the prochamber to anyone who knows what they're really talking about

Take it for what its worth. A couple years ago i dynoed a dr.gas and bassani offroad x back to back with my 370rwhp n/a 306 in my 90 coupe....the graphs over layed each other.

I've had the same experience as 89 has...the longtubes were quieter. Also, much less drone with an x pipe and flowmasters. I had an 89 gt(was setup for factory stock back in '00 i believe)..only reason i ran shorty headers. Anyways, the drone with the x was terrible(switched to the x from an offroad h), made my ears ring badly! I will never run shorties, offroad x and flowmasters again.

You guys think the pro-chamber is louder? I disagree, I think its the quietest of all three. I equate classic muscle car sound to the h-pipe and the a more exotic stock carish sound to the X pipe, especially at high rpms.

If you REALLY want loud, get an SLP loudmouth. My buddy had one on his 98 GT and got pulled over at Old Orchard Beach and ticketed for noise polution. Thats just a cat back keep in mind, still had cats in it!

well I guess the setup I have now is probably going to be the loudest and meanest sound I am going to get without losing alot of horsepower. I guess I will just have to buy a set of headers and be done with it. but by the way if you guys thought that the warlocks on my car are caped then your wrong baby :D . So thanks a million for all yall's help

I'm with black95gts. The SLP system is bad ass. I've been through so many exhaust set-ups it's insane but, one thing i wil say is that as far as sound i loved my Bassani o/r x.
