This is whats going on. I live in MI so, my 69 sits in the garage all winter. When it got warm enough to take the stang out for the weekend, the battery was dead. Ok no problem, so I charged it back up and cruised it all weekend. Well the next weekend, bam, the same thing. I checked to see if anything was left on like my radio or head lights but they were off. So I went out and bought a new battery (an Optima) and checked the alternator. Everything goes good for the rest of the day. Until the next morning the battery is dead again. So I realize that I've got a pretty bad short somewhere and its draining the battery overnight. From then on I've been disconnecting my battery whenever its in the garage so the battery will have juice when I go to take the stang for a drive. As far as troubleshooting I've replaced the battery cables, checked the wiring for obvious shorts, made sure everything was tight, and even disconnected the JVC radio in case it was the problem. All my lights and gauges work so everything seems to be as it should.

What could be draining the battery overnight like this? I've been strugling with this problem all summer and can't seem to find it. Has anyone experience this and fixed it?

Disconnect the neg. battery cable. Put one lead of a VOM (meter) on the battery the other on the neg.cable.The VOM is now in series with the negitive path. It should read some voltage(It may vary but any is not good).Disconnect the fuses one at a time untill the voltage drops to 0.Problem is in that curcuit.Disconnect items on that fuse untill problem is found.
