This is whats going on. I live in MI so, my 69 sits in the garage all winter. When it got warm enough to take the stang out for the weekend, the battery was dead. Ok no problem, so I charged it back up and cruised it all weekend. Well the next weekend, bam, the same thing. I checked to see if anything was left on like my radio or head lights but they were off. So I went out and bought a new battery (an Optima) and checked the alternator. Everything goes good for the rest of the day. Until the next morning the battery is dead again. So I realize that I've got a pretty bad short somewhere and its draining the battery overnight. From then on I've been disconnecting my battery whenever its in the garage so the battery will have juice when I go to take the stang for a drive. As far as troubleshooting I've replaced the battery cables, checked the wiring for obvious shorts, made sure everything was tight, and even disconnected the JVC radio in case it was the problem. All my lights and gauges work so everything seems to be as it should.
What could be draining the battery overnight like this? I've been strugling with this problem all summer and can't seem to find it. Has anyone experience this and fixed it?
