Anyone have pics on how you mounted your hold downs and boxes???

Im considering welding two threaded rods to the floor and welding a bracket to bolt down to hold on to the battery.

This way when i get a nice NHRA legal box i can just drill holes in it and add a set of wingnuts to the lid.

Something like this

But im not sure if thats a legal set up.

Thanks,
Adam

Personally, I wouldn't try welding a stud to the body unless you have a backing plate. If you can manage to do it without burning a big hole in the body, it will still be flimsy. I wouldn't trust it in an accident.

I was considering welding a plate to the floor as well, Basically taking some 16g cutting it to the desired size then welding the studs on. Basically mock it up outside the car then weld it in.

I mounted my fire extinguisher by simply drilling holes in the floor and tapping them. The metal is surprisingly thick there for some reason.

Yea its about 16g. I really dont want to drill holes there i wanna avoid going to deep and catching a fuel line.

Well i dont have any cash but i bit the bullet. I figured that after hardware and time to make a hold down id be like $30 in. I found this taylor battery box on amazon warehouse deals for $70 shipped.

So i figured in the long run with me having to buy a box later it would probably be cheaper just to buy it now. I had some cash in my paypal anyway.

$70 isn't a whole lot of money in the grand scheme of things.
