Also what should i look for while getting them installed, do i need anything else besides what i got with my gears? break in period? any info would be great thanx in advance

You need to heat cycle the gears, so closer the better... Rear end specialties tells you not to drive more than 15 miles without a 30 min cool down for the first 100 miles. Plus not going over 65mph until 500 miles, with reving of course pretty low, around 2-2300 RPM

:stupid: That's some pretty good advice. Maybe a little drastic on the keeping the revs "pretty low, around 2-2300 RPM", but better safe than sorry. Allow the rearend to experience some moderate acceleration, deceleration and normal crusing. Just don't dog the hell out of it at all for the first 500 miles. Then dog the hell out of it!!! :rlaugh: :D :nice:

That is what rear end specialties asks of you, and worth it in the long run, because they will not warranty their work on gears YOU bring in, and most of us like to bring in Ford Racing and Motive gears, so its a good precaution.. when you finish the 500 miles and never have to worry about whining noises again, its all worth it.

yay area!! IN CALI IS RIGHT! ...anywho... the gears are being installed as we speak, is there anywhere i can take it afterwards to have my speedo fixed? Apex wont do it they said i need a chip and Mustang ranhc wasnt too clear on whether they do it or not they just said bring it in? ... all i want is to recalibrate my speedo.. does anyone know of a place that will do it in the YAY AREA?!

my recommendation is just buy a dallasmustang or brotherperformance speedcal and be done with. then later on when your finished with all your bolt on mods you can have a custom burnt chip (SCT) and sell the speedcal.

no i have a 5-speed.... so should apex be able to do it? they told me i needed some sort of chip... then again the guy didnt really know what i was talking about when i said i had my gears swapped for 3.90's ...
Ask Apex if they would be able to do an Abbott speed calibrator for you. Otherwise they are talking about having a dyno-tune done to calibrate it with an autologic chip.
