BBC in a fox?

And all i'm trying to point out is that it'll be easier with a small block, and pointing out that you can't simply expect to drop a 700lb engine into a Fox and run some ridiculous number just because it's a big engine.

This post:
HA! Ok. So my stock 5.0 auto car runs 10.2 in the 1/8th. What do you guess my stock 468 will run in the same car? No need to do the math on that one lol

Leads me to believe that he thinks just because it's a bigger engine that it'll go faster. Big block popularity fell out in the '80s for a reason. If we're talking about building a 4 linked rear ended, mini tubbed, full caged tubular front end race car, that's a different story. If he just wants a fun street car that's different, that's a different story. I'm just saying, don't expect anything spectacular at the strip just because it's a big block. I ran a few tenths slower than a '68 Camaro with a 454 in it and the guy was so pissed about it he accused me of hiding nitrous. I was running a bolt on 302 on stock suspension with bald drag radials. He went 12.4 to my 12.8, and his car had to be fully tubbed to hook up.

Stock mustang suspension is a 4 link, and a tubular front end can be bolted on

No disrespect but have you looked into stock suspension or drag radial classes in the last 5 years? Most of the fasest guys are running big blocks. with bolt on front ends.

crossmember, mounts, swap headers...what is there to know honestly? people post these to stir **** up.
if you built the motor im sure you can figure out a swap, not trying to be a dick but these threads are stupid and people go on and on about the same thing all day long. Its a car and a motor...

probably the same if not slower...
what are you even saying honestly? big cubes doesnt mean big power stock...or modified depending on the build. everyone knows this.
you can throw a 460 in a fox in a day and run S-L-O-W-E-R.

how is that possible? its a 460

460
- 302
_______
158!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thats gotta be some serious horsepower wrapped up in 158ci...No. At that point its a truck motor in a car...

NA BBF > NA SBF in most cases, only because of what theyre capable of built, not because ford was building some wild big blocks for the trucks/vans they came in.
its about what you make out of it, i dont care if you throw a damn Hemi in it, if you build it right, fine it will be faster than a stock auto 302. but hell, there arent many cars slower than a stock auto fox.

bottom line being, your statement is invalid.

Friend of mine did a BBC in his '92 coupe ex 4cyl car. He made it into a true street radial car and did a good job with it-won a few races. Then it got turned into a drag radial car, beat on, then into a bracket car. Ran some 6.40's on slicks with a 468. Later he finished his 540 and went some 6-teens. We actually met at another track by accident (we didn't know each other was going to the races that weekend) and we ended up running the semi-final together. I won the race-bracket race-but not by much. What upset him was that he spent close to 20 grand on a BBC and his coupe was slower than my maverick with it's lowly home-built 414". But he was 2940 race weight, mine is 2500 so a 400 some odd pound weight difference, was about right. I was a 5.84 and he was a 6.19.

They can be built to scream (BBC) but they ain't cheap. Motorplates are the way to mount them, IMO. The plates bolt to the front of the block a LOT better than the Ford motor plates do. Headers are an issue but with the right research, they can be had. The rest is cake. More or less a BBF swap with different headers.

Funny..people hate it when swapping a GM engine into a Ford car, but when we see a Chrysler engine in a Ford, or even a Ford engine in a GM car, I guess it's not quite as bad for whatever reason. Local racer runs a bracket '83 Mustang with a 460" BBF and a good friend of ours runs a '56 Ford Victoria with a 500" Mopar wedge. And it is wicked!
