Well.....my car is at my mechanic's house and he's got the intake manifold off on his way to pulling the cam out. We're going to check the cam specs and then redue my whole valvetrain. After I pop started it in first a couple weeks ago I've become nervous about one of my lifters tapping, so the only cure for that is a new valve train.

He says I have 3-piece push rods and his suggestion is to go with the one piece rods instead. Then he's going to measure my spring tension and make sure they're all within 10% of one another, otherwise those are getting changed too.

ANYWAY.....we have been planning on going with the Cobra manifold sooner or later, but he recently found a picture of the BBK SSI series intake manifold or something.

Apparently, this manifold matches the BBK 70mm TB PERFECTLY, which I already have installed on my car, PLUS it comes with brand new fuel rails and the EGR hoses and everything.

I was wondering if anybody has the BBK manifold and if they like it, or if anybody has heard anything positive or negative about it?

agreed. from what i hear, they're more money than they're worth. almost ANY aftermarket intake comes with a 70mm throttlebody opening so any aftermarket intake will work PERFECTLY with your tb. heck, my cobra has a 70mm opening. i say stick with the cobra.

Are they really CRAP? Or are they just overpriced?

well, i wouldn't say crap, but, do a search on here in talk, there have been many discussions about this intake. a lot of complaints about how the fuel rail setup is and that it causes leaks. none of this is from personal experience, just going off of what i've heard on here. on the same threads there's been some praise, though. so yeah, just do a search and read a little about them.

no there CRAP the injector bungs are off camber and cause fuel leaks. the fuel rail split betwwen the upeer and lowwer busts and come have upper and lower mating issues and cause vacum leaks.

Never used one, but they just look cheesy. They take away the all so famous 5.0L "look". I say go with the Cobra intake, or Edelbrock

I think they look good but so far their casting has much to be desired for and their fuel rails are prone to leaking. Any intake with a 70mm opening will mate up to your throttle body just fine. As far as performance, there isn't any performance gains to that setup. Actually it is prone to starving a couple of cylinders of air and the sharp bends aren't conducive to good flowing air. I would stick with the proven intakes. Any of the reputable "traditional" intakes will be good.

Thanks guys, I just cancelled my order. I will be ordering the Cobra intake on down the road. However, I hear the Cobra will eliminate the EGR. Is this necessarily a bad thing or will the car run fine without the EGR?

Also you might want to take a look at the edelbrock intake too. I think they are a better intake IMO and I believe the cobra has a 65mm throttle body opening. Check out Tmoss's website he has some dyno comparisons.

OMG, WTF is going on? I have a 70mm TB. So am I able to order the Cobra Intake Manifold or do I NOW have to have a 65mm TB in order for it to be compatible?

i'm 100000% sure its a 70mm opening. it'll work. even if it was a 65mm opening (which it's not), you could take it to a machine shop and have it opened up to 70mm for pretty cheap, if that's all you got done to it.

Well, like I've said in previous posts. I have QUITE a skillful mechanic in my pocket and he's already doing the new valve train and putting in my high torque starter and what not.

My question is, is will this new Cobra lower have to be match-ported to the heads or will the lower ports already be opened up as far as they can go?

In a nutshell, will there need to be any machining done to the manifold once it gets to my house?

what heads do you have? do they have any port work done to them? out of box, the ports are a decent size, but if you have aftermarket heads or stock heads with some port work done to them, you might want to have the intake matched. a lot of people gasket match the heads/intake to the felpro 1250 gasket.

I have the E7s with p&p work done plus a 3-angle valve job, so I guess I'm going to have to do some port matching on the lower intake. Cool.

'preciate it. Do you by any chance have any advice on a particular rocker arm brand? Does Ford Racing provide a good roller rocker? How 'bout Comp? I have a Comp Cam so should I roll with the Comp roller rockers, or should I go with Ford Racing or someone else?

Might have to get a Dart block but don't want to and if I do, then 363 instead of 331. Thoughts on what I've already bought so far.......
